Expect nothing and you will not be disappointed. Of course I hope that I am wrong but I have a really bad feeling about this game today. I can see nothing better than a 0-0 draw. Nothing that has been said from within the England camp has made me think any differently. Perhaps if the players and management concentrated more on what happens ON the pitch rather than OFF the pitch we may not actually be in this mess.

That said, COME ON ENGLAND!

Thing is though, we're never going to win this tournament as our players don't have the technique to do so. Most of of players are decent run of the mill players, but very very few have any tricks up their sleeve to beat players. Winning today will only be false hope.

greece and denmark won the european championships without being the best techinical team.
weve already seen that hardworking teams can negate all the technique in the world and draw, or even beat teams like spain, germany, italy, etc.

We all know that English players are not the most technically gifted in the world. But what we have done is made up for the shortcomings in this area by playing at 100 mph and giving total commitment and effort to the cause. This may be a sweeping statement but I believe the public's frustration with the current squad is that we don't see anything remotely close to 100% effort and commitment.

Just a point about the pitch-isn't it in England's favour if the pitch is poor?
Remember we play our home games at Wembley.

Upson, Milner & Defoe IN. Not much pace then.

Pace isn't much use if a team is going to sit back and defend deep. I like the line up as long as it has Gerrard behind the forwards, if he's out left and it's a rigid 4-4-2, were doomed.

I predict some sort of refereeing/disciplinary catastrophe leading to a gritty uphill battle in which England eventually prevail by one goal.

My crystal ball also sees a missed penalty for F.Lampard.

Let's hope Milner's got over whatever caused him to play like a massive spaz against the USA.

And fukdifino what formation this little shambles will play. How long before Fat Fwank's first misplaced pass? 10 seconds? It took him all of 5 secs last Friday to give the ball away.

Just one little observation on the line up. How many ball winners are there?

Stop fishing.

No fishing. It's the truth m9.

As stated below we need to make up for our short comings with quick decisive football and lots of commitment. And we've seen neither.

James will catch it and we'll play out from the back.

Also need players to have the confidence to take a chance and do something a bit different. But with the pressure and weight of expectation they're under right now that's unlikely.

Sorry Dirk but just who do we have in the side who can actually do this? Our football is too one dimensional. Where, in this line up, do our strengths lie? We have no-one to turn a full back inside out, No-one in midfield to pick the killer pass, the list goes on...

They can try, at least - they've all achieved it in the past for their clubs. Not as often as many other WC teams, I'll agree, but they can do it - for some reason they don't even try in England shirts, though.

For example, Gerrard has delivered many killer passes, but only if he's playing them for Torres to run onto. How many did Lampard score for Chelsea - compare with how many he's scored for England.... and so on.
