"Martin Kuhl has departed his role as Manager of Basingstoke Town"

One point (against us at our ground  )from 6 games in the league, and an early exit against lower league opposition in the FA Cup, so no real surprise.
Basingstoke clearly have problems at the moment.

Basingstoke have beaten Reading at the Madejski this season? I must have missed that

A sorry state of affairs, thought Martin would go onto big managerial heights.

I have struggled to keep up to date with the Basingstoke saga but whats the latest ??

Went to Farnborough v Wealdstone in the Cup. First visit there, decent stadium alas the home team were thumped 0-5, Wealdstone strolled the game after first 20 minutes and should have had a few more. They look a very good side and can see why they are comfortably top of National South. The home side looked very lightweight although their number 11 looked a tidy player.

Windsor 4-2 Shrivenham

Poor 1st half ended 1-1 with visitors looking more composed and patient. Early in 2nd half Windsor went 2-1 down then suddenly things picked up and we became the dominant team.

19yo Dylan Ive who scored 4 in the week, didn’t get things his own way against league opposition and was having a frustrating time of it but then a lovely move saw (one time wonderkid) Keaton August, who has been back at Windsor the last few weeks having failed to make his mark at a higher level, control the ball beautifully, beat his man and cross the ball where Ive smashed it in with a spectacular overhead kick.

We then scored an excellent 4th (again provides by August), goal given, then the ref sees there is a Shrivenham player down with a head injury up the pitch (no flag from assistant) and was all set to disallow the goal!

Windsor players fairly politely told him he couldn’t do that, he came over for a chat with the lino near me so I also told him in a slightly less polite manner (no swearo) that, unfortunate though it was, he really couldn’t make up the rules as he went along....

The goal stood and we came out 4-2 winners in what, after a drab start, turned out to be a pretty entertaining afternoon.

Have it on good authority the manager would have been in serious trouble had Bracknell lost.

I saw the Chairman made a well timed tweet asking for patience and a bit of togetherness. Wonder if he's regretting the sackings over the summer?

Think he might be regretting giving the job to somebody so young and relatively inexperienced. As mentioned before Bracknell Town do not want to go up this season, it would be a massibe ballache but they want to see good football and solid performances.
With Cooper-Clark, Bignall and Minhas up top we will always score goals but we look leaky as f*ck at times. Been really unimpressed with the midfield so far this season, biggest problem for me.

Could be an interesting week then. A trip to FC Romania which I believe is a game Bracknell would be expected to win followed by a home tie in the Trophy v Coggeshall on Saturday

A loss to FC Romania at home is a sackable offence. They have lost all their games thus far.

...well maybe.... if you ignore the 4-2 win over Northwood and the draw picked up at Ware :? & Cheshunt is, or was when I last went a couple of season's back, an absolute tip!

...expect Coggeshall could be a tough tie too - new team with a good start at STEP04 in the Isthmian North - and for the 'pop pickers' there's an outside chance their celeb owner (Mr Murs) may pop along to Larges Lane with them - he usually gets an honorary seat on their bench......

.... re T le M's query of what has happened to Wantage - new management team and almost entirely new squad still being constructed - suspect they ditched some of their older heads too rapidly or allowed them to leave - they looked laboured and uneasy when I watched them really struggle over 120' to overcome a STEP06 side in a replay.

Braved the drizzle and watched Roger's 'Moles' overcome a spirited Ardley 4-2 at Stubbs Lane tonight (Mon) in the Hellenic Premier - expect the crowd was pretty low but was important for them to bounce back after their harsh reverse at home to Westfields on Saturday.

Burnham home to Easington tomorrow (Tue) - three games involving 'lodgers' along the M4 : Langley (Holyport) Virginia Water (Windsor - they are playing Reading City) & Chalvey (Slough)
...Windsor will be up at Flackwell Heath.

.... weather not set fair though - if not frazzled by work and I get home in time, I might try and get to the FA Cup replay nr Chertsey : Abbey Rangers v Walthamstow

Was that win fairly early on? Missed that.

You get my point though, Bracknell should be beating them all day long and should make a statement. It will be interesting to see if we run riot.

...yup t'was last month ...

... besides the match tomorrow @ Cheshunt, is only a Group game in the Velocity Trophy - 6 teams contest Group 5 - the others being:
Westfield (who in a previous round of ties - thumped Robins opponents tomorrow FC Romania 8-0)
Hanwell - held Westfield to a 2-2 tonight but the visitors won on pens,
Marlow, whom 'Robins' have already beaten in their 1st gp game &
Chalfont St Peter - lost 2-3 @ Marlow tonight

...and forgot to mention the NATIONAL fixtures tonight -

UPDATED

Sh!ts 1-3 Yeovil
Bromley 1-0 Woking - Bromley go top Woking stay 3rd
'Magpies' 1-2 Dover - Maidenhead drop to 9th - overtaken by Barrow 'Daggers' and Dover

In Southern League: Hayes & Yeading W3-2 @ Dorchester; Thame bt Diddy 1-0 at the ASM (att 102) and Winchester win 2-1 at Mangotsfield.

FA Cup Harley W go out 0-1 at Chichester; Abbey Rangers edged out Walthamstow 2-1 (I got there too - was a bit drizzly, decent crowd touching 200)
- only 3 STEP5 clubs into the next Round - Abbey host Whyteleafe - the others are Hadley - who are away at Havant and Tavistock who travel up to Welling.
There is a STEP06 club in the draw but they (March Town United) were re-instated following Grays expulsion and travel down tomorrow night to Corinthian Casuals ground, to contest with 'lodgers' Kingstonian for a 3Q tie at home to W-S-M.

In the Hellenic Burnham lost to Easington 0-1 ; Flackwell edged past Windsor 3-2. Westfields stride on at the top with a 6-0 demolition of Brimscomb. Fairford win 3-1 at Tuffley & Lydney hold Bps Cleeve to 1-1. Reading City won 4-0 at Stag Meadow v Virginia Water

In One East there were wins for Langley over Woodley 4-3 and Chalvey lost 0-2 to Abingdon Utd. 'Sumas' (Wok & Emm) coasted to a 3-0 win at Kidlington Dev.

UPDATE ii)
In spite of the score to the contrary on the official Isthmian site  Bracknell ran out 4-0 winners at FC Romania.
They have just signed former Highmoor and latterly Hartley marksman Mitch Parker.

In Hellenic Premier Brackley Saints hammered an abject Holmer Green 7-0 and the lights went out at Tadley in their North Hants Cup tie v Winchester Castle - abandoned on 15' with the score 1-1.

In the re-staged FA Cup 2Q tie Kingstonian eased past Suffolk side March 3-0

mx "Martin Kuhl has departed his role as Manager of Basingstoke Town"

One point (against us at our ground  )from 6 games in the league, and an early exit against lower league opposition in the FA Cup, so no real surprise.
Basingstoke clearly have problems at the moment.

A sorry state of affairs, thought Martin would go onto big managerial heights.

Hot news off Twitter....

https://twitter.com/Basingstoke_FC/stat ... 8133169152

They got a decent draw at Totton the other day, but are still bottom of the table with 2 points from 6 games. Sorry state of affairs - hopefully things will pick up - I don't know how their new ground is coming along, but their cash flow can't be brillaint at the moment.

mx Hot news off Twitter....

They got a decent draw at Totton the other day, but are still bottom of the table with 2 points from 6 games. Sorry state of affairs - hopefully things will pick up - I don't know how their new ground is coming along, but their cash flow can't be brillaint at the moment.

He's always struck me as a good lad, and he's well connected and did a great job with Hartley so it doesn't come as a surprise to see him take over. I hope he gets a fair crack at turning things round.

I also saw on twitter that ex Basingstoke and Reading defender, the infamous Matt Partridge, has now signed for Thatcham.
