Four Of Clubs 'Featured' results tonight

Trophy

Brackley 3-2 Royston
Bracknell 2-3 Havant & W - 'Robins' with a last minute pen from Bowerman
Dorking W 2-0 Hungerford
Slough 2-2 Dartford - 'Rebels win 6-5 pens'

Sending off of Max Herbert for a harsh second yellow was the turning point. Bracknell were more than holding their own at 1-1.

Save for Maidenhead (playing at Weymouth on Saturday I think), that’s all the local Berkshire sides out of the Trophy for another year - not a very good week.

...yeah other Berks clubs are out .... but a few 'local/featured' sides still in that are just beyond our borders:

Chesham host Torquay
Oxford City await the winners of the delayed Concord v Truro 2nd Rd tie
Woking home to Dover

...and slightly further afield:

Brackley go to Chesterfield
Eastleigh at Wealdstone - actually I think the 'Stones' are nearer us in distance than the 'Spitfires' but the journey time is possibly a tad longer

...and of course finally :P the Sh!ts are at WGC - could be an upset there STEP04 v STEP01

We aren't much better represented in the Vase, with Binfield the sole survivors - I think - and their game down at Deal, is off due to the 'Vids' .
- they may get booted out as others have with players unavailable - though there isn't the time pressure to get the rounds completed as much now we're down to the last 64.

...and over the border in Bucks: Flackwell Heath are due to go to Chatham

...a fuller review to follow but with today's news I'm expecting quite a few will be off again
I'd be surprised if the Isthmian/Southern STEP3/4 leagues re-start this w/e as planned - there was talk on one of the official league sites of a complete suspension of the season at those levels :(

Trying to work out where we are actually allowed to go on Saturday. Ascot are at Home for example, is that "In your Area" if you are Wokingham? Ive no idea where the boundaries are.

Using the T&T App might not be a great idea if any doubts.

Tier 3 football rules:

Elite clubs can't have fans

Non-League steps 3-6 can have fans up to 15% capacity

Grassroots can have spectators

Grassroots players & clubs can’t travel in/out of tier 3 areas (youth clubs can however)

Fans can't travel in/out of tier 3 areas
Chesham v Torquay has to be behind closed doors

Well that makes no sense. Elite clubs can’t have fans yet they are probably much better able to ensure distancing etc. than the non-Elite clubs !

....soz for the bad news TLM but just found out Ascot v Camberley is off cos the visitors don't want to travel .... nor do they want their own ground used so the Div One game at Krooner between Bagshot and K&EB is also off.

Doubt I'll venture out at all - don't fancy the double header at Larges and feeling slightly averse to a clandestine border-crossing, to see if I can get into Eversley v AFC Hayes - which'll probably be rained off anyway.....

.... they might follow Tadley's example - they have decided to play Behind Closed Doors for their WESSP game vs AFC Portchester- though trickier to enforce at E&C as it's fairly open at one end - or was when I last ventured over there.,

EDIT .... but it's off anyway waterlogged as is Petersfield. Still pending news from Fox La but Eversley tweets are optimistic - so looks like the sofa for me unless I feel some familial goodwill and decide on late Chrimbo generosity.....

Our FA Trophy fixture (An open letter to the FA)
Dear Mr Bullingham,

I’m writing this letter today to you in the face of a difficult decision I have to make on behalf of my club Frome Town Football Club. It’s with a heavy heart that I choose to make this public statement due to the lack of acceptable communication and timing from the FA about our fixture in the FA Trophy.

We are still awaiting confirmation that we ‘have’ to travel to Maidstone United tomorrow night at 7:45pm to fulfil our fixture in the FA Trophy. With Maidstone in tier 4 and classified as an ‘elite’ club, we are in the unenviable position of choosing whether to send our players into a Tier 4 area against the government advice and rules. As a non-elite team we do not have the resources of elite teams. The changing of the competition from non-elite to elite at this point seems incredibly unfair, especially at this later date with just 1 day before the fixture. Especially when the terminology of ‘elite’ was only redefined recently.

We want to know why our requests for this game to be held at a later date can not be met due to the competition rules. As a club we are ready and able to field a side for this fixture, and we understand that the FA will be asking the DCMS for the fixture to go ahead. However with player safety in mind, we feel we are being ‘forced’ into a situation of withdrawing from a competition that we have done everything we can to partake in.

As the Chairman of this club, we are doing our upmost survive, after it’s near collapse back in April. Our fans raised £20,000 to help pay off the most pressing club debts. The rules of tiering currently have us in the only band in football where football can currently not be played (step 3-4), with the leagues at our level concerned about teams travelling within Tier 3 regions. We are doing everything we can to keep this club afloat with no income and no foreseeable league fixtures, our Trophy run has been keeping this club going.

So to you, I ask do you wish me to send our players into Tier 4 or to withdraw from the competition?

Yours Sincerely

Derek Graham

Chairman

Latest communication from Frome Town fc.
Following the decision by the FA and DCMS the club has sought further advice and will not travel to tonight’s scheduled match vs Maidstone United.

As a club our first thoughts have to be with the players, staff and officials of both teams who will be forced to play a match in Tier 4 against wider Government regulations. As a ‘non-elite’ team, we do not accept the decision of both bodies given all the news coverage and medical expert advice provided.

We will not put families and lives at stake. It’s clear that no football match outside of the top level is COVID safe. We will not demand that our players travel in separate cars across the country to a tier 4 area. We have no clear clarification on the insurance procedures and coverage either. We’ve also been truly shocked by some of the wider fan comments who have a very reckless view on COVID and its effects. But more disappointed at the collective decision that has been made.

We are not withdrawing from the competition, and believe the FA can still make a sensible decision to postpone until it is safe to play. We will await further communication from the FA.
