paultheroyal Said it before and i will say it again - if i win the euromillions, starting tonight, i will sort Basingstoke Town out and i would buy Newport IOW. If there is one club which is a sleeping giant in non-league terms, with a potential large fan base, Newport would be it.

East Cowes Vics overlooked again!

Lovely club East Cowes, always welcoming and friendly, but every time i go there its freezing, wet and blowing a gale.

Jokes aside, Windsor is a club I would be looking at if I had unlimited money. Close to home, great location, low base to start from. Would be them or Binfield I'd think.

Considering the money in the Windsor area I find it quite odd their current owner isn't a local ( as far as I know) and isn't willing or can't fund a budget or sort out issues that mean the club is literally just ticking over.

You all know of my love for Newport IOW - although refereeing days i hated them as club secretary was a nasty piece of work. But there are a host of teams in Wessex League who should be in higher leagues based on town sizes. Fact that Newport, Petersfield and Andover are one step away from local football is barking mad!!

Royals and Racers Marlow v Uxbridge tonight postponed

... as are most NL games locally and elsewhere ....including B&B tie @ Chalfont v Diddy - easier to say what is still ON:

SLP-C Banbury v Biggleswade seems to have survived if there's no more rain.... UPDATE Ref didn't fancy it - called OFF on arrival.
SLP-S Chesham v Harrow & Walton Casuals v HandY - latter on 3G

CCL Cup also on the 'plastic' at Bedfont Deportivo v Redhill

...and Hants Senior Cup at Portway - Andover Town v Blackfield & Langley- though they admit it's a bit muddy! 8)
... UPDATE and B&L didn't want to play ball either ... so cried OFF.

Would like opinions on my red card on Saturday, especially from Paul.

It was the 91st minute and the opposition were awarded a free kick out by the corner flag. I was injured so was hobbling a bit whilst setting up a one man wall. The opposition player, stood next to the referee, shouted "get back in goal you prick". I responded with "shut up you fat prick". The referee marched over and gave me a straight red card but there was no consequence for the opposition player, not even a talking to. The referee lost control of the game midway through the 2nd half after a really awful backpass decision and went on to dish out yellow cards for next to nothing in order to regain some authority but failed to do so.

Would I have grounds to appeal based on the above information? My specific issue is the lack of punishment for the opposition player who instigated the verbals who was as guilty as I am.

NathStPaul Would like opinions on my red card on Saturday, especially from Paul.

For what it`s worth i suggest you have no grounds to appeal- what the opposition player said was true and what you said wasn`t(neither fat or a prick) :D

If i first state what i would of done.... if that word etc used towards me - straight red. If against opponent, depending on nature of game, 2 yellows or just words. So firstly, harshly you were sent off.

You could appeal but personally if you agree to saying that, wont get overturned because that would be classed as foul and abusive language which is a red card offence.

You could challenge based on "retaliation" - but i would imagine the referee would say "the attacker never said that" or "he never heard that" - you could go along with witnesses but i don't think it would change the fact you said it - unless you can conjure up a story of another word you might of used with others backing you up.

Hope this helps.

Yeah definitely helps to have a referee's view on it. I probably won't appeal as they are largely pointless at our level, just have to take it on the chin. Not sure how many games I get banned for, I know it is 3 for violent conduct etc. Not sure if that changes if it is just bad language towards an opponent.
