Sky Sports on Saturday

"West Brom manager Steve Clarke is adamant the club have not received any bids for striker Shane Long and he has not encouraged any offers.

Sky Sports sources on Friday revealed the Republic of Ireland international's former club, Reading, had failed in an attempt to re-sign the 25-year-old.

But Clarke, who after Saturday's 0-0 friendly draw with Barnsley confirmed an offer from an unnamed club had been received for Simon Cox, claims this is not the case.

Roy Hodgson's summer successor has not been approached about Long and he has no desire to sell a player who only arrived at The Hawthorns 12 months ago."

Maybe this was Reading?

I hope so. He's Championship at best, and we're already carrying Church.

oh yeah forgot about him. i am hoping he is only back up for Harte but if Brian thinks he can add a lot to the team then i have faith in him. now i've said i hope he is back up he will probably regain his previous form and be called up for England again :D

I actually think, given a run in the team, he would prove himself to be good enough for West Brom.

Fair point. he has shown some quality when playing but like any forward you need a run of games to gain confidence in front of goal.
