He is a player I would love to be at RFC though if we make it to the PL. At least he is a tryer who gives 100% each game and you really need some players who will do this in the PL.

A striker on six goals for the season whose main attribute is their workrate and being a 'tryer'.

Exactly what we need then, a clone of Simon Church...

Given the expense of the rest of our deals, the fact Church was brought on ahead of ALF on saturday and the number of strikers we already have I think this one should be filed under "B" for bullcrap.

Oh, come on Pea!

Have you seen him play? Hell of a player and 80 goals in 138 appearances for Peterboro.

Very much in the Shane Long mould.

True though that this season he's had 27 Starts for 6 goals (League) and 4 for 1 (cup)

But Brighton plays lotsa football, and I'd've thought he'd be more suited to our very direct game

Or, Brian was giving Church one final chance to impress and show him that he's worth keeping.....

no thanks think signing him would be unwise given number of strikers we have UNLESS 2 are moving out in opposite direction

church is fine. whats hurting our side is the lack of creativity in midfield, especially the centre.

Don't you think that's a rather implausibly last minute, pointless last chance? How stupid would you have to be to cancel an offer for a rival's striker on the basis that your makeweight came on with 25 minutes to go in one game and scored a goal?

Was talking in broader terms over Church's future rather than this 'deal'

If you are only judging goals this season Church hammers CMS

CMS has had 27 starts, lots of time to bed in. Church is in and out of the side

SC Age 23 . . 2012 = 1,455 League Minutes 6 League Goals = 1 Goal Every 242 Minutes (2.67 Games)

LF Age 25 . . 2012 = 1,543 League Minutes 6 League Goals = 1 Goal every 257 Minutes (2.85 Games

MS Age 27 . . 2012 = 2,345 League Minutes 6 League Goals = 1 Goal Every 391 Minutes (4.33 Games)

However add assists and if you count those as worth a goal then it's

172 Minutes ALF
180 Minutes CMS
242 Minutes Church

Interestig how well Alf stands up against both of them, and would get better if we showed more faith.

They might have made the offer at 5PM Saturday, Ian.

However, isn't it a bit crazy to leak that a player is surplus to requirements like that? (if true)
