Gylfi Sigurdsson

Sorry to start this all again, but seemingly being shunned by Spurs at the moment. January homecoming?

I'm not so sure any more - he can't get in the Spurs team and his time in Germany didn't work out (through no fault of his own). Is he any more high profile than Pogrebnyak? Given the owner's money and his history with the club, I can see it happening.

Depends if they're still in Europe. If not then a 6 month loan deal might be discussed.

How dare ye bring this back up. You've put a glimmer of hope in the hearts that could never forget Gylfi. Damn you good sir!  :x

AVB is completely clueless and Gylfi doesn't seem to fit their system

Dempsey is overrated and is above Gylfi in the pecking order.

They play a poacher (Defoe) as a loan striker.

It won't happen as he's out of our league. But we can always dream.

It would be one hell of a late Christmas present.

If Gylfi was signed in January on a 6 month loan our safety would be assured.

Don't see it happening though.

He made his bed when he decided to chase the money, now we should let him lie in it.

*not sure if serious*

How was he chasing the money?

Are you saying he's not good enough for Spurs?

He had choices between a Swansea team that only had 1 season of PL football behind it, Liverpool who were also about to go through huge rebuilding or a Tottenham team who had finished fourth last season, in those circumstances I can't blame him taking the Spurs offer, especially when it was for more money.

Heard from a players mouth yesterday that we 100% did not put any sort of offer in for him in the summer.

McDermott did say the other day that if a player "of that sort" came up it would be something to consider by the sounds of things:
"We had Gylfi Sigurdsson in a 'number ten' and Shane Long playing up front a couple of years ago. If something came up that was interest of us, and he was a 'number ten', and we made that decision then he could come in and part of the squad."

Never say never but i'd be surprised. I firmly believe we had a good chance in the summer but no longer. Stranger things and all that though

I dont agree that hes out of our league. Its not like we are in the championship(yet). If hes still on the bench come january hopefully brian will put a offer in even if its a loan one.The only problem i could see if hes avalible is if Brendan Rodgers forgives him and slings his love spuds into the ring for his signature

I didn't realise they only had Defoe on loan!

Even with Howe's seemingly very loose mouth, I doubt they tell players everything that goes on behind the scenes.

Horrendous grammar on my part.

Why do you do this to yourself!! He's not our player any more. Move on, as he certainly has!

I know it's highly unlikely, but IF he came back in January and Brian played him in the number 10 role, who would you put as the striker in front of him? Atm I'm not sure any of our strikers would be suited to that style.
