FridaysGhost One can talk about individuals but, it's the team that counts. The right person in the right place. We look good at the moment except at Left-back and Up Front. We need good cover on the left and a real threat up front. We haven't shown any ambition when it comes to scoring goals. Sharp would be good for the squadf but, if our Management need an instant return to the Prem, all of the good strikers are currently being sold - or are staying put. They need to put their hands in their pockets and buy a Rhodes or a Hooper.

Siege, give the bloody Rhodes thing a rest!

I sometimes wonder what world some poster live in.

Do you think it really is that easy to go out and get every player we want?

There are so many pitfalls such as do the club want to sell, will we pay the price, the wages. Above all does the player want to come and who else is interested, what are they offerings in terms of money and in some cases geographic preference comes into it.

Some people on here think it is simply a case of us deciding we want a certain player and then he signs.

Well said Big Ern, decent strikers are in short supply and expensive too so they can pick and choose a club far more easily than players in other positions.

Premier League newcomers Hull City's £4.5m move for Burnley striker Charlie Austin has collapsed - because of "unforeseen obstacles".

Failed medicals can often just mean a lower transfer fee, fee paid over longer period of time, wages structured more around appearances etc. Can often open things up to more bidders and increase the chances of a player moving on.

So what you're saying is a deal for Charlie fell through because of a deal for Charlie?

Fordham used Bradley Wright-Phillips as an example - failed a medical for us before moving to Charlton and being prolific (for a season)

Indeed, there was a conversation on Twitter between Fordham and Charles Watts mentioning players like Wirght-Phillips (groan!!) and Demba Ba who have failed medicals and yet gone to sign for other clubs at reduced fees and scored hatfuls. However, it would of course depend on what the 'mystery' ailment was :?:

To be fair, player with a longstanding history of shoulder problems with a big part of his game being physicality, you can see concerns over an inherent weakness there when you're considering spending £4-5m on him.

So the question would be, if we are interested, is it worth a cheeky £2M bid?

Very worth it. 28 goals in a season whilst sitting January and the last 4 games of the season out speaks for itself. To get promoted we need someone like him

Presumably gave way in that nightclub when he was supposedly hit by the cubicle door whilst kneeling. That would explain it all.

Worth remembering that last time Hull were in Prem they were lumbered by signing Jamie Bullard who was injured most of the time while there .... once burnt etc.
