We don't have room for another midfielder, and Akpan can play in the hole any way.

Can he? Akpan is more of a box to box midfielder than an in the hole forward. To my mind at least. Not sure his goal scoring is up to par for a CAM.

But we also need an attacking midfielder, of which we only have Akpan at the moment, unless we use one of the wingers in that role.
