HoneyRoastHoax I think our new club will surprise us.
I don't think the two signings if they happen will be anyone will have mentioned.

SouthSmallRoyal I reckon we'll get Akpala and Lobato, but we'll also get McDaid on scholarship terms
PLUS Adkins said that we were close with two, but he didn't indicate that those would be the LAST two deals, so there could be more to follow in the next few days

Tokyo Sex Whale If we signed Gylfi I would have to get gylfi's name on the bottom of my shirt as already have drenthe on the top.

shaka's shorts I think we are missing the point regarding the "closer to home" comment.
Adkins said - some of the rumours are wildly wrong and some are closer to home (paraphrased a little). I think he just means "some of the rumours are wildly wrong and some are more accurate". i.e. that Akpola is accurate and others (say Jerome) are wildly wrong...
I don't think "closer to home" means geographically, I think it is a turn of phrase meaning nearer to the point i.e. correct!
My money is on him meaning, the 2 guys on trial are close to signing, if they prove to be good enough this week. Nothing very illuminating, but that is Adkins style - he hasn't given many clues before the other players signed either

Mladen Petric will not return to Switzerland. The 32-year-old striker completed on Friday, the medical tests the English second division side FC Reading and will be officially unveiled on Saturday as a new signing before the league game against Blackpool. Petric was last at FC Sion in conversation. He pulls the transition into the second English Champions League but obviously that prior to the Valais. The attacker was last season, employed at Fulham, on the island. Reading is located approximately 60 kilometers west of London, his last work. Petric on a free transfer
