Adkins to West Brom

by Big Foot » 03 Jan 2014 11:47

Twitter is awash with Baggies fans talking about Adkins as their next manager - his odds have come tumbling down from 100/1 to 11/4 today alone. I just wonder, with the shitstorm going on upstairs at the club, whether this could be the best possible outcome for all parties?

1) We get rid of a manager who plain & simply doesn't fit the fabric of this football club, without shelling out any compensation at a time when the club are (allegedly) short of cash

2) Adkins gets an easy out from his nightmare time here and can save face to protect his hugely inflated ego, whilst still remaining 100% in love with himself

3) West Brom......urmmmmmm

I'm an Adkins fan, but if we come out of this with £2m compo for the 3 stooges and Eamo Dolan in charge then I wouldn't be unhappy.

Exactly, we could even waiver the compo and just do a straight swap for Shane Long - #BreaksCock

Looks like the Adkins out (let's change our manager again) brigade may get their way.

Wouldn't blame Adkins at all if he accepted the WBA job, if offered. His acceptance will have little to do with the 'inflated ego' that some (wrongly IMO) accuse him of and everything to do with the current ownership mess that Madejski, Anton and TSI have inflicted upon him.

Even without the ownership uncertainty WBA would be a more attractive proposition. Similarly established academy set up, considerably superior quality of players, premiership status, players more suited to the 'style' NA tries to play, etc...

Not sure I can see the notoriously tight Jeremy Peace forking out the required amount of compo myself, but we'll see.

If this does happen. Who would we then get in?

Arise, Sir Phil of Parkinson.

Dolan for me.

I don't want Adkins to leave, and I think we will massively regret it if he does.

Ok, he's partly to blame for this season so far however there is obviously a lot going on out of his control also.

Personally, I would want Dolan, I think the way we played against UTD away last season was impressive if only for one game however he seemed to have an immediate impact. He is also the Reading way, which most people on here crave for.

I just don't see the Omani's (if to be believed) wanting him - chances are we will end up with someone else that isn't the reading way.

My money would be on Steve Coppell on a short term contract. Not going to be an attractive destination for a manager in work given uncertainty around ownership....

Or perhaps Nigel leaked this to the press to get Reading to cough up more dough?

Good work Nige

I for one will be a bit gutted about this if he did go. I want him to see it through & I think he can be a great success here with the right backing. We've been sticking square pegs in round holes for too long now.

That would be the worst move ever. He would fail and then get pelters

Rather not go down that route

Or perhaps Nige has leaked it to the press to get the h8ers salivating at the prospect, just to kick 'em where it hurts when he ends up staying 8)

Completely agree, but I could see it happening.

Another +1 for Dolan from me.

His family are settled locally aren't they? Lets hope that's a factor in his decision....

Don't go Nige!
