RUMOUR - Zack Clough

by genome » 06 Jan 2016 18:49

Just starting a new fred so the other one doesn't get hijacked.

http://the72.co.uk/44028/birmingham-end ... ch-clough/

Birmingham City are no longer in the running to sign Zach Clough from Bolton Wanderers according to The Bolton News. Huddersfield Town, Sheffield Wednesday and Reading are still amongst those who has declared an interest, but he certainly won’t be heading to Gary Rowett’s men.

The 20-year-old forward has been the subject of Premier League interest in recent times, most notably from Everton and Watford. However considering Bolton’s difficult financial situation, several Championship clubs now feel as though they cannot be priced out of a move for the youngster.

It is said that Birmingham have simply pulled out of any potential deal and will now focus their attentions elsewhere in terms of recruitment this January.

A £2million tax bill is due on January 18 by Bolton Wanderers and it had been feared that players will need to be sold in order to pay off that debt. However it is believed that negotiations with one particular party interested in buying the football club means that players may not necessarily need to be sold.

Vydra mk2

He won't be cheap, therefore, unless we're planning for next season already (a good idea), we won't be in the running

Is this a bit like their Gayle bid in the Summer? Surely we're a more attractive club if we are in for him, which I hope we are.

FLW say...

Clough, 20, has made an instant impact since returning from injury this season, providing some much needed creative and attacking sparks, in what is has been a lacklustre Bolton Wanderers side.

The England youth international is undoubtedly Wanderers’ most valuable asset, and with the club in the midst of financial peril, and facing potential administration and bankruptcy, they will most likely be forced to sell to Championship rivals.

Sheffield Wednesday are looking to continue their early transfer window activity by landing the striker, but Reading have now joined the race, and after losing key man Nick Blackman to Championship rivals Derby, they will be eager to replace with another attacking talent.

After claims that the players went without pay at the back end of 2015, Clough will be unlikely to turn down a move away from the Macron. His destination however, is the only question left unanswered.

Good to know that he hasn't moved yet.
He certainly looks a player and although it would be quite understandable if he went to a club on the up like Wednesday I would be disappointed if he went to Bristol City rather than us.
According to the Press we are in for so many players now that Blackman has gone-it would be nice to think that we are.

I've not seen a lot of Clough but the bit I have I'd have to agree that he looks a very good little player, one who'd make the team that bit better to watch. Perhaps a little too similar to Piazon for the current squad but that shouldn't stop us moving for him if he's available.

Yes, very true, and I almost added him in my post. I'm thinking that if his loans work out then he'd have a good chance under McDermott as understudy to Clough next year (if we signed him).

I really hope Tanner does get, and take, a chance. Like Clough he just strikes me as a player worth watching.

Will we hit 20 pages by the end of the window? It remains to be seen.

Steve CotteriLOLLOL.

How shit must you be if a player chooses continuing to work with Neil Lennon and run the risk of not getting paid rather then play for you?

perhaps he knows there is an offer from a bigger club (hopefully reading). If we could get him for a million or just over it would be a coup for us. tbh that may be the only player we would need up front. use the other money from Blackman to strengthen other positions then.
