Yeah. Every fan with common sense wouldn't touch him yet our fans are excited just to have a name at the club.

No way is he 30, he's played in dross leagues for the last 5 years and is they exact thing that's wrong with football these days. He fcuked his career chasing money not success.

Stam seems to have built a spirit at the club and this fat pensioner would ruin that. The Sunderland fans were adamant he was older than 30 when he left them years ago.

Didn't even realise he'd been at Newcastle.

This must be the longest medical in football history for a loan player, It started at 9 this morning and now at 1900 he is having a medical according to NEWS NOW READING.

No wages, loan for the season, not much to lose on this one if he passes his medical!

Wow. Football fans not wanting "name" player not linked to their club, whilst fans of club he is linked to appear on the whole cautiously optimistic, given what appears to have been very good moves in the market this summer.

The fact fans are even talking about this deal shows there is interest out there with these fans, otherwise it wouldn't merit a mention as it's just another transfer.

In an otherwise boring season where everyone expects mid-table at best, what is wrong with having a "name" at the club?

oxf*rd some oxf*rd just like to complain at anything.

So far Brian Tevreden and Jaap Stam have managed to attract players of real quality. Let's hope that Gyan comes with the right attitude. Last year there something amiss in the squad.

It's a bank holiday anyway, won't some in the club/the relevant authorities be away?

I've only read the Fulham thread but it seems to be a really similar one to ours. Some just plain anti, some excited and a fair few cautious.
Interesting that earning a million pounds a month constitutes failure. You must either be a mega earner or a saint Lacoste !

If Gyan is significantly older than 30 what is the explanation for him not having played any kind of football until his mid 20's ?
It would be bizarre, especially in African football, to appear from nowhere aged 23-24. His playing record looks pretty kosher....

He isn't significantly older than 30.

Just because he is from Africa people are claiming he is.

People weren't disputing Van der Vaart's age, even though he has been around for ages :?

Not sure why people are against this!

- He is used to playing as the centre part of a front three for his country, somewhere we are very short of cover - where he has been prolific - if against "weaker" teams (Sudan, Angola and England).

- He averages a goal every 215 minutes in both the Premier League and Serie A, two of the toughest leagues on Earth. If he did that for us he'd be getting around the 20 goal mark, something we haven't seen for a number of years!
