Wanted on loan supposedly...

Let's hope he doesn't speak to Reece Oxford...

Reading have asked to take West Ham striker Ashley Fletcher on loan for the season. [The Sun]

Good striker.

Looks like we've given up on our permanent options.

Can't see that West Ham would be happy sending another player on loan to us after Oxford.

That was a bit embarrassing for them.

I just don't see how he is any better than Samuel looking at his stats.

Has anyone seen him play at all and could comment?

Starting to think a young prem striker on loan may be the way to go

Think he'd do alright

Is he younger than Samuel, is he less injury prone than Samuel?

Stam's seen plenty of Samuel, better try someone who might be better than stick with someone you don't think is good enough.

Yes he is slightly younger than Samuel, I have no idea whether he is injury prone.
But 19 games and no goals as a striker is not what I think we are all looking for.
If this is what we are targeting it tends to show we are now desperate.
I would hope we could do a lot better.

Young but not an inspiring history. Questions surely have to be asked why West Ham would accept any bids for him.

True, but if the hype and potential has substance surely they'd refuse anything beyond a loan, especially for "only" £7m and keep him as a project.

Yeah of course, agree with what you're saying. Maybe they've inserted a buy back clause? But like you said, if they rated him that highly then they would have looked to loan.

What is wrong with clubs these days, the fees being paid for players in this window are even more ludicrous than idiot fees being paid in previous windows.

I trust that includes the standard #britishplayeruplift fee (think it was set at about 500% last time I checked).

its pretty mental, and you do wonder where it will end.

Fletcher may very well turn out to be a top player, but his record is very modest at the moment.
