If he turns out like the last LB we got from Chelsea on loan, then I am all for it.

We do need cover for Richards, as I would expect him to be the starter this year.

Would also like a right back as cover for Yiadom.

Is Osho still without a club? Might be worth upping the contract offer and getting him back in.

I think so, I'd take him back, 100%.

But I don't think it was about money, it was more about playing time.

If he is still without a club after the season has started, he may think twice about it I guess.

Think he would get a fair bit of game time this season with the games so thick and fast, Yiadom is a bit on the injury prone side too. A bit of extra cash would be hard to turn down, especially as he is still without a club. No idea if it true but I was told on Twitter that the club offered him the same financial terms as an academy player would get.

Not sure why we would offer him any more money ! If he’s not got a club then we’d be better than being unemployed.
My understanding is we initially offer d him a reduced contract (presumably on the basis he’d not done anything to warrant a pay rise). That may have been a standard , entry level pro deal. We then offered a new deal on the same terms as his current contract. How that compares to what he might get as an inexperienced but promising young pro at a mid level div 2 side I’m not sure.

He is perfectly capable of playing in the Championship and provides CB cover too. He did plenty to show his worth and earn an a much improved deal.

He's only 5ft 6, so don't think he's a realistic option at CB. Sounds very highly rate at Chelsea though, so hopefully would provide Richards with some decent competition.

He’s a centre back who played a tiny number of games at right back. He did well in those games before losing his place. If you think such a brief run is all it takes to deserve a big hike in wages then you are crazy. It may have given Hal Robson-Kanu a decent career but I’d want a bit more than that to go handing out improved deals.
I’ve seen him a lot in the age group sides and he’s always looked good. His loan spells have hardly set the world alight though.
It will be interesting to see where he ends up but I’d leave an open offer of a 1 year extension to his previous deal on the table with the incentive of an extra 2 years at a better salary if he breaks into the match day squad on a regular basis before Xmas.

No it was the money. The offer was not enough to pay the mortgage. This may however be the new reality.

Well that confirms it Hendo. The great, all knowing mind of Westwood has the answers.

Makes you wonder what sort of mortgage a 21 year old with a short term contract in an unstable industry can get these days ! You’d think young footballers would be very high risk for mortgage companies. Fair play tohimfor not wasting his money on a stupid car though (cue picture of his new Ferrari being delivered !)
