Crowbar6753 Ok, so Bayern have signed Richards to a pre contract agreement and now seem to be in pole for the future signing of Olise. As much as this all sucks, maybe we could build up some kind of mutual bond/link between both clubs.
Lets face it, Bayern are the giants of European football and not a bad team to link up with.
I would be happy with some German talent on loan with us, surly it would be a win win for both clubs, and with our academy churning out great talent over the past few years it would be an attractive proposition for Bayern.

They already have Bayern II but in fairness the championship is obviously a step up from the German third division.

Why limit it to just one?

I see Chavvy Chelsea are making serious noises on wanting him now.
I can see his career panning out in the following way there.
Gets 5 games in a season....all League or FA cup.
Gets loaned out in January to a Championship club.
Summer gets loaned out to EFL C, L1 and 2 club for season.
Spends next 5 years on contract on loan.
Leaves for L1 club on free.
Ends up playing for shit club on continent.

Yeah, but they will pay 50 million for him to be rubbish and give him 300 grand a week.

He's more likely to have Sidwell's career of knocking about in their reserves getting the occasional game for a few seasons and then go and play for a solid PL team where he becomes a mainstay.

Depends on how Chelsea evolve under Tuchel - in the last PL game 5 of the 20 man squad were from their youth ranks and quite a few have got decent minutes this year admittedly under Lampard.

He may be wary of heading back to Chelsea as they let him go once or he may feel he has unfinished business there.

Wherever he goes, I expect him to go this summer and given he only has 12 months left that we'll get 10 to 12m for him (maybe more but only if that is incentivised)

What's his path like at Chelsea? I guess if they cut their losses on Havertz and Werner there may be chances for him, but if they have better 2nd seasons and stick around then I don't see how he gets a game.

If Dortmund are in, he should go there. Proven at developing talent and likely to sell Sancho this summer.

Pepe the Horseman
paddy20 According to the internet Olise has a release clause of just £8m. If correct it looks like we could lose him for a paltry figure compared to what he's worth. This would be a big blow for Reading if true

If that was correct he would already be gone.
It's possible that any release clause that may exist may stipulate that it only kick in at a specified time/transfer window.

This ‘one year left on his contract’ thing is more than off set by the fact that multiple clubs are keen. The idea that you could wait a year and get him for free means nothing if someone else has already signed him. It would require interested clubs to get together and fix a price which no one would then gazump to cut his value.

Also think our owners are of the sort who might rather let him leave for free on an expired contract than sell a star player.

Presuming we fail to go up this year

and

Presuming we deal with FFP

and

Presuming Olise didn't get disenchanted and lose form
it might actually be a good investment to keep him

"forgo" say, 10-12 million in summer 2021, invest a little
more, and then perhaps go up in Summer 2022

Rephrase that. Would you, as an owner, "punt" 10m more
(ie keep him) for a real and serious crack at autos next season?

If we sell Olise, we will have to buy two bionic legs for Swift (15 million each)
(he will then probably get a pelvic injury) or buy a replacement.

They've shown they are but I'll be interested to see if Swift's season has changed that view - they could have got ok-ish money for him last summer only to turn it down and then see him sit on the treatment room table for 90% of the season.
