Big Striker

by King Cnut » 10 Jan 2021 12:48

Apparently Daniel Wright at Torquay United has been watched by Reading and Norwich. Anybody know anything about him? Bit of a beast it seems. Might be a bit rough for our pure tactics.

Judging by the TV match at the moment we wouldn’t go far wrong by signing Crawley’s front two, and a couple of the defenders.

Wind up surely - he’s 36 and, apart from 2 seasons in the 4th division with Cheltenham, has spent all his time in the National League.

Don't think he plays at a high enough level to make the step up. I think Akinfenwa of Wycome would be a better bet as he has Championship experience and if "big" is the requirement, they don't come bigger than that and he is only 38.

Kevin Ellison might be worth a look. 6ft 1 target man for Newport. Played in the Premiership and only 41.

I'm not sure if the rumour about Glenn Murray to QPR happened as supposedly they are looking at bringing in Charlie Austin.
We have discussed Murray elsewhere and I would be happy to see him back with us until the end of the season.

He’s 42 next month! Shame Nat Lofthouse isn’t still with us.

How about Sam Allardyce as a player-coach?

Isn't Wilfred Bony available on a free? He's been training with Newport, on his personal Twitter.

Are Tony Hedges of York City and Ron Benson, Plymouth Argyle available as well? One of them is 46 but I've always said if you're old enough you're good enough.
