Unlikely. He would have been 13 at the time although would probably have got in the team ahead of Sandro Weiser.

No, you were right he was a defender. He’s just been converted into a striker since he left.

Recently I read, I think it was after the Cadiz - Barcelona game where Alex scored, that Alex was captain of the Real Madrid B team and was seen as the brighter prospect.
