Speculation: Alen Halilovic

by Stranded » 19 Aug 2021 14:32

I know already mentioned we are interested elsewhere but those with more time on their hands than me have spotted that he has started following the club on Instagram today.

Seems to be a pre-cursor to transfer movement these days so could be a sign he is about to sign.

Talented player.

Over on Twitter @ExclusivesFc believes he’s on the brink of signing.

Would be a great acquisition. He’s highly rated but my only worry is we never seem to do well with highly rated players :D

Strange that he'd choose us over Brum, when presumably they can offer a lot more.

Does he play left back or up front? Of course I'm not against improving the team, but if the EFL are tying our hands in the transfer market, shouldn't we be directing what little resources we have at where the need is greatest?

+1 Could he cover for Swift if he picks up an injury?

Plays as a right sided attacking midfielder who can also play in the centre.

Plan seems to be to have 3 creative players behind a loan striker, who can essentially have free roles and rotate positions.

Or L/RW.

We already have players who could cover Swift. We've got so little when it comes to being effective on the flanks.

no problem with the signing, and we've all highlighted we need Swift cover, and see him as a fairly decent and direct replacement

But 100% LB is a bigger priority atm. Just hope something in the pipeline

Possibly indicates someone is off. I wouldn’t be against us selling Ejaria if it gives us wiggle room to bring in a striker & left back

Not so sure but possible - we have been apparently hoping to get 3 over the line this week and Halilovic has been a known target for 2 or 3 weeks. Other 2 we're looking to bring in are a LB and hopefully a striker.

If we manage that, and if we do then we could have a first 11 that looks something like this (names indicative not who I would expect to play):

Rafael

Yiadom
Morrison
Moore
New LB

TDB
Laurent

Halilovic
Swift
Ejaria

New Striker

Bench: Southwood, Holmes, Puscas, Rinhomota, Clarke, Hoilett, Azeez

That team "should" soon pull away from any danger.

Is this one still meant to be happening? Or is just another made up Twitter rumour?

Not keen on TBD and Laurent as midfield. They both rampage forward a lot and Rino is often the only midfielder doing any consistent defensive work. Likely to make us even more open and concede more.

yeah though would hope TBD would modify his game if he did. But ideally would want Rino

Injury prone player rejected by everyone he's ever played for but I guess in our situation we have no choice.
