Kenneth Dougall

by JedMaxwell » 27 Apr 2022 08:51

Sounds like a veteran Scottish MP, but is actually an Australian international with Scottish and Thai roots.

Currently at Blackpool having been at Barnsley and in the Netherlands previously. He seems to come up with important goals, including two in the play-off final, and is a tidy defensive midfielder with a lot of good attributes.

If we're in a position to make any proper incoming transfers in the summer, I'd love to go in for him.

Anyone have any thoughts on him?

A footballer called Kenneth ? Sounds unlikely.

He goes by Kenny. But I think he's a really useful player and one I'd like to go for it we're able to. He's in decent form at the minute and every time I've seen him, I've been impressed. I didn't go to Bloomfield Road but he was good at the Madejski this season.

When you see the name Dougall, do you think of the Magic Roundabout character or the Father Ted character?

That’s ok then.
I’d have said no to a Kenneth but Kenny is a fine footballer’s name (Dalglish, Burns, Jackett). Bit worried about the Paddy implications though.

37 appearances for Blackpool this season so clearly a first teamer. Which begs the question why would he come here, unless he's out of contract. Blackpool won't want him to go without a fee, you would expect any first-team championship player to command a minimum fee of around 500k I would say.

So A) are we in a position to be paying transfer fees? and B) would he want to leave a midtable championship team to come and join this basketcase of a club.

The tenuous link I suppose is Paul Ince used to be at Blackpool, so maybe he has contacts there, but that was 8 years ago.

Yeah it's not that likely, but he's just a player I think is decent at this level. Coming into his prime as well at 28.

Not for me. Would prefer to tie down Rino and Laurent for the base of the our midfield and then look to use the likely minimal cash we might be able to spend this summer on players that are more suited to us.

As mentioned as well, no real reason for him to move to us at this time. In other circumstances, maybe, but not now.
