No idea on the quality of this source esp. as it's Twitter but

https://mobile.twitter.com/efl_hub/stat ... 7546009602

Millwall trying to get Wallace to agree a new deal despite heavy interest from us and PNE.

Just don't see it but hey, this is why we have this forum.

Can't see it happening but this would be one of the best signings we'd have made in recent years if we pulled it off.

Cracking player. He'll have far better clubs after him than us, and we can't compete for wages.

He can do a lot better than us and PNE but I would take him in a heartbeat.

Would be a definitive yes from me, although would feel someone in the top half or higher would go for him. Don't think he's quite cut out for the PL, but would be certainly good enough for someone in the play off places, maybe Forest-level.

Now that may well change things a bit....not sure what ties he has family wise in Reading but who doesn't want a chance to play at their hometown club? unless that club's Reading of course :D

The further North he's been team wise is with Wolves, so a move up North looks slim, so maybe a watch this space, and of course being in the Chumpionship for a long period of time he will know all about us and might fancy a reset.

Yes please but I don't see him coming to us. More likely he'll end up at West Brom or Watford

Just posting the rumour that is out there, have no expectation him turning up even as a relatively local lad.

Quite interesting this rumour has come about considering we've got Meite on the right for next season guaranteed, unless he was to be sold over the summer.

Why can't Meite ore Wallace play on the left? It isn't illegal.

If Ince is the manager then Meite won't be here anyway.

I think Meite is seen more as our back up striker at the moment though I think NsP is right that Ince as manager may see us cash in unless he has just been limiting playing time as we don't want him getting injured at the back end of a campaign where we didn't really need him.

Let him fully recover over the summer and have a full pre-season.

Not suggesting it is but they are both most effective on the right side.

He may have been protecting Meite because of the nature of his injury, which he has alluded to since he has been here. Although don't disagree with the underlying point of Meite seemingly being out of favour as well, so it's entirely possible he won't be here next season, which would be a shame.

It just seems a bit strange to sign someone in a position where we already have a very effective player, unless we were to play one in a position which (probably) isn't their strongest, especially when we have many gaps to fill in the squad.

Don’t think there would be anything remotely strange about signing Wallace, other than the fact that he won’t sign for us. If a player like that is available then you make it work. Can see Wallace playing behind the striker if it comes to that.

You're then playing a talented player outside of his best position though. You want your best players in their best positions. That's the only thing that would be strange, we'd have two very good players in Meite and Wallace being most effective in the same position.

Nothing against his ability is strange or the actual signing, just that, out of all the positions we need to fill in the summer, right wing isn't one of them. Unless Ince see's Meite as a back up striker or he leaves in the summer. In which case, if we were to coup a couple of million for him and we signed Wallace on a free, that would represent excellent business.
