Would 100% take him, I just can't see that happening because of competition for his signature as well as wages. If we were to pull that off, it would be excellent.

Getting Moore out of the way in January will be crucial to being able to keep Mbengue and Carroll on until at least the EOS as well as any others as well.

A fit commited Fabian Delph is still too good for the Championship, would be great to get him but find it highly doubtful he would come.

Not that committed as he’s just announced his retirement.

National League North club Darlington cancel Marcus Maddison’s contract by mutual consent having signed earlier this summer.

Weren't we linked with Marcus Maddison for a number of windows a few years back? Wonder what went wrong with his career? Doubt we'd look at him now but he's a free agent again

He's had some fairly well documented issues with his mental health over the years - think this was his attempt to rekindle his love for the game - guess it hasn't worked out for him.

Yes, it was at the time where Clement was manager with Gourlay as CEO when we were in for him along with 2/3 other Championship clubs, but I think Peterborough's CEO said we never managed to meet on valuation.

Would have been filed under another cock up though if we managed to sign him for what would have definitely been a seven-figure fee though at the time.

Obviously, that's no disrespect to the struggles he may be having with his mental health now.

Seem to recall he posted something online saying he was choosing to give up the professional game as he was fed up with it… checks wiki and…

On 12 April 2021, it was announced by Bolton Wanderers that Maddison's loan spell would be cut short having made 10 first-team appearances for the club without scoring. In an Instagram post released a few hours later, Maddison admitted that he was considering ending his footballing career altogether, stating "the abuse, pressure and monotony has just got to me" and expressed his current lack of enjoyment in the sport. Maddison later confirmed his decision to end his professional football career in another Instagram post.

I don't see us signing more than 1 player and that 1 signing is only if we don't keep Andy Carroll come January.
