Loan rumour - Mamadou Loum

by Stranded » 21 Jul 2022 15:24

Reports in Portugal linking us with a loan move for Porto's defensive midfielder. Played 31 times (over 2000 mins) in La Liga for Alaves last season on loan.

Allegedly will include a purchase option of 5m included. Imagine the only way this happens is if that is not binding in any way beyond setting a known fee for him if we were to want to buy later.

We could do with another midfielder and at 25 is a decent age.

Key word there. An option is just a clause setting a fee if we choose to purchase and if we wish to purchase we have first choice in doing so. It does not tie us in to spending that money as we would not be allowed to enter a deal which does.

Would add quality to our midfield by the sounds of it, have never heard of him before, but would suggest given his current club and where he was last season that he would be capable in our team. More a case of if he can adjust to the Championship or not.

The £5m option to buy, like probably every fan, I would be extremely wary of that given our recent transfer history.

Never heard of him but he might be a decent signing. It definitely looks like Ince wants a strong physical team, which also has a touch of finesse. I still want a left back or two but happy with the way the squad is shaping up.

With all the financial woes Louming over us I'm not sure about the £5mill buyout.

It’s an option to buy. Not committing to anything

Never heard of him so will have a scout around. Need another midfielder though so happy with it in principle

Find this a worrying sign that we haven’t learnt our lesson at all and plan to return to being crazily profligate the second we can.

Sounds a potentially quality player though.

How about his FIFA or Football Manager ratings?

It's an option to buy. If he proves to be a quality player at his level, €5m is a good deal and we'll activate. If he's not we won't.

Thanks, I'm aware of what it means. That doesn't ease my concern.

No idea if its the right player, but this one seems to be fairly good in the air and at covering defence.

Asked someone Portuguese about him the answer I got is a “more defensive Alfa Semedo with even less technical ability”

No idea if he is any good but based on the number of minutes he played in La Liga last season and his age this sounds promising
