The 17 Bus
2 world wars, 1 world cup Coppell is god.

He turns water into wine, and a player with the slightest potential into a star.

If he's good enough for Coppell, he's good enough for me.

Let's hope he does have something Coppell is looking for.

Bollox..... Owusu Brooker the list goes on

tw@t

look at any manager in the world and you can do that:

wenger- Richard Wright, Jeffers, Pennant, Bentley , the list goes on

Ferguson- carrick, djemba djemba, veron the list goes on

benitez-- nuff said

its about the ratio of bad to good, and coppell is proven to get th ebest out of people or ship em out.

he is a god

and you are a tit

You are clueless and don't know very much about football.

That is all.

I thought they were after Dempsey, or is it the case that they're looking at both?

haven't heard anything about Johnson to Fulham. I've heard him linked with Real Sociedad and West Brom.

Agreed.

Firstly the list doesnt really go on much after that.

Plus as much as you may not have liked him - Owusu did a job for us.

Ill give you Brooker though.

why?try not to resort to insults alone, as it does little to improve the quality of th edebate- please just try and explain your position.

is it that you think veron was good for united?

or perhaps jeffers was better than he looked at arsenal

or that you dont like steve coppell, or just dont grant him deity status?

i dont understand

surely quoting two players who didnt live up to expectations at reading and then saying the list goes on and on to prove a point about coppells managerial failings is just a bit daft,

there are no managers, even the best, who dont bring in players who fail to perform

surely?

or not, please feel free to put me right, i would welcome the opportunity to learn from someone with such vast football knowledge as yourself

You really have dug yourself in far too deep already, so this is probably a waste of time, but can you really argue that with Brooker, Coppell "turned a player with the slightest potential into a star?"

Please show all your working.

Ever thought that the Brookers and the Owusus were bought because they were available and cheap at the time someone was needed - and were never long-term options. They did a job when they were needed and were then moved on.

There's nothing wrong with bringing in temps until you can find the right permament staff - not ever signing has to be a world-beater.

No argument with that, of course.

Nowt wrong with deflating overblown hyperbole though.

Indeed - doesn't that account for 80% of HNA's postings?

Dempsey and Johnson are very good friends. Signing the two together would be a brilliant idea for Reading, but it would likely be too expensive as well. Dempsey is a very talented player, and has few question marks, but Johnson does have a few.

He spent nearly a year out with injury, and when he came back, he was not the same player. He is young, and can recover perhaps, in the games I've seen him play in since then, he just is not quite as explosive.

As for his two goals in Kansas City...Kansas City has a pretty decent offensive unit in theory. Wolf is not a great finisher, but he is a great set-up forward. He can find the pass and is very unselfish. Scott Sealy and Davy Arnaud are not horrible offensive players either. The fact is that Kansas City was not good this season. Why? I don't know. Johnson could be part of the problem. I'd still fancy a signing of him. His potential is huge, and his positioning is great. His hat trick against Panama was not a showing of amazing touch, but instead, an uncanny ability to be in the right place at the right time. If you look at the world's best strikers, almost all of them have that attribute, and in many ways, it is more important than being able to fire them in from 30 yard or taking teams on one on one. Positioning as a forward is extremely important...he has that, and he has a great frame for the English game.

Johnson has completed his trial at Reading and has flown back across the pond.Coppell keeping his cards close to his chest(as ever)repeated it wasnt a shop window exercise but simply an opportunity to show him how we do things over here.Well be in for a noble peace prize at this rate!
Johnson for his part was understandably impressed by the no primaddona team ethic stating "There's one goal - to work hard and win games. The past few days have been a real blessing."
As to whether we will see Eddie trade red hoops for blue only time will tell.

He was apparently impressive in the reserve friendly with Cardiff at Didcot. Set up a goal for Long. Could well have some legs this one

Well he's got at least one leg even if it is at a funny angle. But I'm sure that's nothing that Jon Fearn couldn't sort.

no,i cannot . but then it wasnt me who said he could.

i just said that when assessing whether a manager is great or not
it doesnt serve much purpose to list the players he bought that didnt work out,
and that the best managers in the country would have about as good a record as copps in that respect.

nothing you can say can convince me otherwise
