Premiership Players We Could Potentially Sign...

by Coppell's Right Footed 11 » 03 Jan 2008 00:16

So say we have a fair chunk of money, are looking to move forward, maybe move in for a few surprise moves if we increase our wage budget, just looking at the prem i have found a few names we could possibly get permanently or on loan

Just my opinion, but if we were to sign any premiership players i reckon these are the players who are within our range or we could get if we are trying to move onto the next level

Arsenal

Armand Traore
Justin Hoyte
Alexandre Song
Lassana Diarra (If we are being ambitious)
Vassirki Abou Diaby (If we are being ambitious)

Aston Villa

Thomas Sorensen
Patrik Berger

Blackburn Rovers

Steven Reid
Robbie Savage
Maceo Rigters

Bolton Wanderers

Stelios Giannakopoulas

Chelsea

Scott Sinclair
Steve Sidwell

Everton

James McFadden
Andy van der Meyde (injured a lot yes, cheap to buy yes, has talent)

Liverpool

Sebastian Leto (loan)
Lucas Leiva (loan)

Manchester City

Sun Jihai
Ousmane Dabo

Manchester United

Chris Eagles
Gerard Pique
Jonny Evans
Park Ji Sung (loan)

Middlesbrough

George Boateng
Gary O'Neill (summer)

Newcastle United

Peter Ramage
Shola Ameobi
Belosoglu Emre

Porstmouth

Noe Pamarot
Lauren
Arnold Mvuemba
Pedro Mendes
Matthew Taylor
David Nugent

Tottenham Hotspur

Paul Stalteri
Ricardo Rocha

Anthony Gardner
Wayne Routledge
Tom Huddlestone
Adel Taarabt (loan)
West Ham United

John Pantsil
Calum Davenport
Bobby Zamora

The names in bold are players who i feel we are more than capable of signing and would be adding quality to the side

Championship:

Michael Kightly
Robert Koren & Zoltan Gera ( though they are top)

I thought Park Ji Sung was out for the season with a ligament injury. Really clever loan signing that would be.

Put the mouse down and move way from the Championship Manager.

Park Ji-Sung is now back after 9 months out and according to a few close Man Utd fans could be loaned out.

Mvemba always impressed me at Pompey, not sure if hes injured or not but his passing and movement is brilliant, will be interesting to see if Coppell is keeping a big eye out on all premiership teams.

Also Rocha (Centre Back) and Stalteri (Right Back) of spurs could be useful.

Haha no champ man for me, just catching up with emails out in Oz and getting bored of the negative transfer threads created by Reading fans, specially as its 2/3rd January

Didn't Van Der Meyde get his contract terminated by Everton at some point?

Sorensen, Eagles and Huddlestone would be a good starting point.

Then we need to look at a centre back with pace

Pedro Mendes wouldn't be a bad addition....

One wonders how many of the above Reading will have actually considered....

Able to tackle, win headers and not give away penalties would also help.

Forget about McFadden! There is no way he would leave Everton at the moment, and if he was to, it would be to go to Celtic or Rangers.

Not a Prem player but Leeds are looking at the Walsall LB Fox, ex Everton Academy, almost 100 games now at Walsall and well thought of as far as i can see, might be worth a go as squad player for now.

Sorensen, Cahill, Savage.

We'd be a lot tougher with that.

Huddlestone ain't gonna leave Spurs now.

Stelios to give us an option out wide, if he's cheap?

And a striker to replace Lita.

Then two or three relatively unknown players to bring through as we approach safety.

Never gonna sign Hoyte - he started for Arsenal in their last game. Same for Huddlestone, and probably now Stelios after scoring the winner last night.

As for ManUtd's Evans - isn't he a rapist?

Interesting, if pointless exercise.....but the Premiership players I'd like to think we'd be sniffing around (and are pretty realistic) to improve both our starting XI and squad are:

Hoyte
Song
Diarra
Sorenson
Cahill
Stelios (only if we pick him up now though)
Davies (been an underated cog in the Bolton machine)
Graveson (he can't get close to the Everton side)
O'Neil
Milner (not sure whats happening with him at Newcastle)
Mendes
Taylor
Nugent
Ashdown
Routledge
Zamora

Those outside the Prem which I've seen a little of and/or sound interesting following others suggestions are:

Mensah (I'll be watching out for him if I see Ghana during the ACN)
Kightly
Marvin Elliot
Gera
Watson
Surman

First of all I'd guess we'd need to clear out some of our own deadwood though.

Huddlestone's been starting for Spurs recently - I'd rule out a move for him based on this.

LOL @ anyone even pondering Huddlestone coming to us. He'll be automatic first choice at Spurs and an England regular well before 2008's out.

And he obviously likes scoring. If he gets away with it, it means he's good in defence too
