Gylfi to leave ?!!!

by IcelandicStokie » 18 Mar 2010 20:14

According to this story PSV scouts have watched Gylfi in 3 games since the new year. Also says many Premier League clubs are after him. Is it inevitable that he leaves? I would say, a 1 or 2 more years at Reading would be just the ticket for him.

Translation

PSV have eyes on Gylfi

Gylfi Sigurdssons superb performances this season have not gone unnoticed and every week scouts from all corners of Europe flock to watch Reading in action to catch a glimpse of the midfielder.

According to Fotbolti.net sources dutch giants PSV have had Sigurdsson watched three times since the beginning of the year and been impressed and its also a fact that several English Premier League clubs have the player on their radar.

It should be exptected that PSV will continue to scout Sigurdsson who has 13 goals to his name so far until the end of the season as the talented player seems to go from strength to strength with every passing week.

It will be a tough task for Reading to keep hold of the player this summer and the club will have to face reality that he will be playing his trade somewhere else next season.

One Icelandic player has previously played for PSV, former Iceland captain Eidur Gudjohnsen.

I think Gylfi would be better suited to a move abroad. If he moved to a Premiership side it would likely to be to a bottom-half team, solely focused on survival, and not playing the type of football which could see him flourish. Could see him being really successful if he moved to an average La Liga or Serie A team, or indeed an Ajax or PSV

Any bid of £2m+ will see him go I would venture.

£2M!!!? and the rest the time and effort we have invested in him is more than that alone before you start to factor in his performances this season!

That's not to say everyone who comes through our academy is a straight £2m player as soon as the graduate.

Should Sig stay?

by Royal_Delight » 20 Mar 2010 06:32

The Reading Chronicle says that Sig could go for a 'seven figure bid' He has been an exceptional player for us this season and I would hate to see him go but could the team use the money from selling him to buy better players or would you rather see him stay?

P.S Reading has been rather poor in replacing players for the past few seasons. Eg. Cisse for Sidwell, Thorvaldsson for Doyle.
