New roundabout.

by Dirk Gently » 13 Aug 2007 22:29

Not sure if anyone's mentioned it yet, but the junction at the top of the hill (where the roads behind the North (EDIT NOT North - I really mean SOUTH!) and East Stands meet) is no longer the T-junction it's been for the past 9 years.

It's now a roundabout - so expect plenty of arguments/crashes in the dashes to get in and out on Wednesday.

Its always been a fooking roundabout. I suggest you check Google Earth.

Unless of course you mean the P&R car park as thats the only T junction bar the hotel and S/C / megastore which of course is the North and WEST stand corner

I'll post a google earth image in a bit when I'm able to.... which clearly shows the 2 roundabouts behind the north stand

One roundabout only

the one Dirk means is the small triangle, which was a junction.

Dirk actually means the junction between the West and South stands outside the away end (where Biscuit Way, Shooters Way and Hurst Way converge on the map above).

How can 17 say '1 roundabout' and then post an image containing 3 named roundabouts !!

I believe Dirk would have been right it he'd been able to tell his South from his North !

They were also tarmacing part of the car park last week...

Peter Cech is not keen on Irish traveller lookalikes either.

can't really see a problem. What degree of traffic comes ropund the back of the East stand? Specially with the gate shut

But the gate is removed after a while. We normally head that way round the back of the South Stand, and there is always two streams of traffic merging at that T-junction.

Seems crazy to change it - the T-junction always used to flow well with people merging in turn.

Just to avoid any confusion, it's been given the rather catchy Gate 10 Roundabout name.

Why have they got any stupid roundabouts anyway (except for the buses to u-turn at) ? 330+ days of the year there's not enough traffic to justify them. During matches, foot traffic predominates and roundabouts are irrelevant. Some highway engineer can't engage brain enough to think what the stadium is actually used for.

Well that was alot of hype over nothing. I was getting quite excited about seeing this new round-a-bout. It's just a small circle painted white on the floor! Thanks guys.
