What's your benchmark for success Schards, the second half of last season?

Well according to Rodgers' early season spouting (swallowed unquestioningly by the likes of you) it was top 6.

The squad we have here is mid to low Championship (which bearing in mind the slash and burn policy carried out in the summer is probably about right)

It's good to set ambitious targets - if you set survival as a target, you go down as we have seen.

I think our squad is a little better than you give it credit for, but transition can take time.

Top half finish this season is quite easily obtainable.

There's very little to beat in this division and 3 or 4 wins would make us look a different side.

It's that easy.....

We've pretty much changed the entire team, we've played most of the top half of the league and have recently shown signs of improvement. Nevermind though RL, we're doomed because you say so.

Well spotted, it explains our current league position I would guess.

Barely anyone has looked impressive whilst beating us which makes it an awful lot easier for us to climb the table. A small improvement is all it takes to pick up points off people like Leicester, Boro or Sheff Utd who are higher up the table , beat us yet looked very average in doing so.

I haven't oxf*rd said we're doomed - that's what is annoying about this thread.

I tell you what, I'm sick of you consistently talking down to me like I'm some sort of idiot. The FACT is we haven't beaten these teams "despite them looking very average" - we haven't even gone close in many cases. Still, at least you're only talking about a top HALF finish, rather than BR who still seems to think we're going to make the play offs.

Fair enough, but I don;t write your posts so don;t blame me for them.

You're great with your 'facts', especially the blindingly obvious undisputed ones !

We've been poor this season yet have rarely been comprehensively outplayed. It's a fairly weak division and given where we've been and what look like some solid improvements the scope is obvioulsy there to move up th table.

On the other hand if we had been regularly beaten by teams who looked like good sides it would be a much bigger worry. Top 6 would be very optimistic although by no means unprecedented. Top half should be a realistic aim and the addition of one striker would give us a team more than capable of that given a bit of luck

Well, I think we have been comprehensively outplayed by a vast number of teams this season so far - QPR came to mind because it was so recent.

I haven't seen a single team at the Mad Stad this season that has impressed me (missed the Cardiff game)

So that leaves away games, of which we've won 3 and could say we've been given a bit of a lesson in 2, maybe 3.5 games ? Newcastle, West Brom, QPR, Posh 2nd half ?

Of course I'm wrong though.

I can't think of another game where we were as out-played against QPR, certainly in this division in recent times.
Didn't go to all the away games last season mind.

That was awful, but on the other hand QPR were excellent and do have a good team this year.
We don't, but one day we might.

Royal Lady wtf does this have to do with me? :|

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=93442

Royal Lady But the players that remained are of (at least) championship quality. He brought in players from Watford (who are in the Championship and were last season also) - He brought the players in - the buck stops with him imo. Why did he bother buying/loaning them if they weren't up to it? You think Ingi, Marek, Gunnar, Tabb, Hunt etc aren't up to being in the championship??

Why isn't he playing Marek? I'll tell you why - he's a Coppell player - he's tried too hard to distance himself from Coppell and his style of play and his players - all to RFCs detriment I'm afraid.
