Good game in Milan, 2-1 to Barca after 30 minutes.

Messi now has 25 goals in 20 games this season. :shock:

Obviously Dixie Dean's 60 is the English record - Messi's 53 last season is the Spanish one (shared with Ronaldo). Messi could threaten Dean's mark this season, wonder what the European record is?

I must admit I have quite a soft spot for Dortmund. Hearing the (what?) 7,000 away fans blowing away the jubilation of Arsenal's fans with 'You only sing when you're winning' (in English) makes that spot all the softer.

Brilliant game between Milan and Barca.

Can anybody tell me why they're showing Chelsea above Valencia in the table? They drew 1-1 in Spain and Valencia have a better goal difference with the same amount of goals scored?

Soccernet are showing Chelsea as 3rd. Heard KPB scored another cracker tonight, only saw Barca's winner.

...I'm pretty befuddled with it all too - CL site has Chelski 2nd but with inferior GD and the round-up states anything other than a 0-0 draw (or a home win of course) will see Valencia qualify for next round.

Not sure which site I was looking at above but as stated the UEFA site also has them 2nd - but then again it has Benfica above Fergie's mob in Gp C and yet the Manc's have a better GD - don't they?

Fairly sure the P!llock on Sk(h)y(pe)Sports News hasn't got a f£cking clue either!

Have had to turn the sound off now anyway - old 'Concord-Schnoz' Thommo has come on - he's never managed to utter a single phrase that I have ever managed to agree with. :roll:

I believe... that Chelsea are currently ahead on away goals. In the CL it's not done on GD, it's done on results between teams on level points. So:

Chelsea win - they go through on points.
Chelsea draw 0-0 - they go through on away goals.
Chelsea draw 1-1 - they lose out on GD.
Chelsea draw 2-2 or more - they go out on away goals.
Chelsea lose - they go out on points.

I might be wrong...

...think you are more or less there - here's the relevant official Guidelines bit for the Group Stages:

7.06 If two or more teams are equal on points on completion of the group
matches, the following criteria are applied to determine the rankings (in
descending order):
a) higher number of points obtained in the group matches played among the
teams in question;
b) superior goal difference from the group matches played among the teams
in question;
c) higher number of goals scored in the group matches played among the
teams in question;
d) higher number of goals scored away from home in the group matches
played among the teams in question;
e) if, after having applied criteria a) to d), two teams still have an equal
ranking, criteria a) to d) are reapplied to determine the final ranking of the
two teams. If this procedure does not lead to a decision, criteria f) to h)
apply;
f) superior goal difference from all group matches played;
g) higher number of goals scored from all group matches played;
h) higher number of coefficient points accumulated by the club in question,
as well as its association, over the previous five seasons (see
paragraph 9.02).

...I'm sure para 43 sub section 2 has a bit about - "you can't get a penalty if your name is Drogba" - which I thought was a tad harsh?? :?

aaah cr@p bleedin' Cundy's on now - think I'll have to watch Cricket.

So yeah, any other draw that 0-0 means Valencia either go through on overall GD (1-1) or away goals (2-2+)

Of course I'm sure AVB will pull a masterstroke and Torres will score a perfect hat-trick :wink:

:lol: It really was stonewall. Leverkusen didn't deserve to win that, Ballack pretty much said as much in the post-match!
