We can still stay up!

by West_Reading » 09 Mar 2013 23:08

It's been a disastrous Feb/March but with two games against big sides coming up, and then a huge April, there's still a chance we can stay up. It's difficult to see us getting anything at Old Trafford or The Emirates, but stranger things have happened. Arsenal, in particular, are under pressure at home and are prone to unexpected losses. Somehow get a result there and it sets us up for a big April. Get Pog back from suspension, go back to 451, get Fed and Kebe back, and the great escape is on! URZZ!

I want to be positive but knowing that McDermott will

-persist with L,wood and McAnuff even though its quite evident they are shocking at this level
-Give Hunt mores minutes that he deserves
-Continue with Harte
-Not play Guthrie
-Have rigid formations throughout the match
-and make continuously stupid team selections and substitutions every week

we have no chance of staying up.

We have FIGHT and PASSION you can't deny that but the overall quality of the first 11 and squad is just simply shocking.

I mentioned it before the Villa match how our defenders end up in one straight line moving towards the goal, not even considering the cut back. What happened today Benteke scores from the cut back.

The only positives I will take from today was HRK as I thought he was oxf*rd immense (Probably should have scored.)
and Blackman, yes his air shot was embarrassing, but he moved into good positions and had some neat touches.

I thought if we lose to Wigan we would just completely capitulate. and we have

With my RTG positive head on I think we could still get to 36 points. It might just be enough.

However once the Saturday night alcohol wears off I will realise that in reality we are fecked. Hope Doncaster and Sheffield united get promoted for some local games next season.

On the plus side pog will be back by the time we have another winnable game, so maybe we can go back to one up front and a vaguely competent midfield and have a chance of picking up points.

We can still stay up. We won't, but it's still possible for the time being.

Yes but we are not playing well and we are short on class. Just poor. We are down.

My predictions,

United 4-0 L
Arsenal 3-2 L
Southampton 1-0 W
Liverpool 0-1 L
Norwich 0-1 W
QPR 6-2 W
Fulham 1-0 L
Man City 0-0 D
West Ham 0-4 W

36 points, staying up by one goal thanks to a bundled hunt goal at west ham that didn't even go in the net

Football fans are the most fickle amongst any sporting fans. One unexpected win in the next couple of games and suddenly everyone will be a hero again and McD will be a genius.

If our players could learn how to defend, mark their opponents, and not run about like headless chickens then maybe we'd have had a chance, but after yesterday it's just too late when you look at the remaining fixtures so face it, and enjoy next season in the Championship. It's a good division anyway.

The bookies now make us 1/8 for relegation but can't make up their minds about who will join us.
The trouble is also that even if we won at Old Trafford or The Emirates you just know that we would then lose at least one of the 6-pointers when the pressure is back on.
This team of ours may run around a bit and start trying when there is nothing to lose but it lacks soul and I would hate to have to go to war with any of them alongside me.

Theatre of Nightmares good name!
Yesterday I made my last visit for this season. The remaining fixtures I'm attending are all away; Arsenal, Norwich, and West Ham. See you back there next year.

It's achievable, but highly unlikely. I for one am happy we get to watch Reading take on the likes of United & Arsenal. To take points off these teams would be a fantastic achievement regardless if they help us stay up or not. We usually raise our game for big teams, I expect the same here too.
