Xavier Onassis Bollocks. The point he was making was absolutely crystal clear and in no way diminished by his use of English unless your priorities are idiotically out of whack. ..., this is someone just talking in his perfectly understandable idiom.

Yes. It's perfectly understandable, but makes the person seem a bit thick. Views of people who are a bit thick tend to be taken less seriously.

Why is it any different on the internet, except that you can get away with sneering at people in a way you wouldn't to their face? It's rude and pointless.

If someone on here started making racist comments, or was boasting about crowd violence etc, you'd probably have got at them. In real life, you probably wouldn't.

Also "should of" is something that doesn't really come across in speech. It does grate when seen written down though. And it's not "just their idiom" at all. It's not slang or even lazy speaking. It's just wrong, and the result of people somehow not knowing that "should've" is a contraction of should have rather than being should of.

to much moaning. you can see they're passing the ball around a million times better than they were under mcdermott, but it take time to become the passing team adkins wants them to be. at the moment they're learning to keep the ball and to control the pace of the game. it'll take another half a season before they start to open teams up and exploit space, but it will come. i think we'll be lucky to get the play-offs this season, but as long as anton backs adkins and gives him some money in the next two transfer windows, next season will be a lot different for us. he needs time, and the fans need to give the team time. you grumpy impatient lot!

What was the reason for the Oman game btw. Seems a bit random even given the international break. Anton hoping to bag an investor?

id imagine it was a mixture of money, and a good way to keep those not involved in INTL's fit, as well as giving a few kids the chance to put themselves forward for a 1st team place.

good idea all around imo

It was to be the only game that would integrate the 4 new players to the squad before returning to League action :D

That was a dismal first goal to concede. Second goal was a bit lucky but how we didn't score is a mystery.

They disrupted the game very well. They didn't try and match us on footballing terms, but did a very good job of getting in the way. We had an awful lot of possession but never really looked like we were going anywhere.

Oman's number 10 was very handy.

I haven't clicked the link but no way were we all over them. We kept possession reasonably well for the most part but we never knew what to do with it. They were skillful, occasionally took the pee out of us with backflicks and a few backheels, plus their movement was very good. They were well organised defensively and really did show us up. Some of their players we're impressive.

And people were moaning about that? I thought it was going to be some sort of pedestrian direfest. Now I know that'll be edited for the best bits and to make us look good. But apart from some terrible finishing (and I know its only a friendly), we could have easily had double figures! The goals we conceeded were comical though.

Didn't know what to expect from Oman but they turned out to be quite effective on the ball. They are 95th best in the world which is higher than N. Ireland if that puts a bit of perspective on their football ability.

In contrast, Reading were often wasteful when getting the ball through to the forwards and unfortunately weren't clinical enough to score any goals when chances were made.

The good thing about this match is that we know what some of the younger players might replicate in the league of they're given a chance.

+1

We looked good, considering it was only a friendly and the players were never going to over do it, in case of injury. The youngsters looked good and I'm sure we would like to see some of them given a good run in the team, Uguwu and Obita for example.

I don't think we are anywhere near panic stations yet, far from it. The goals will come.
