Rumour - Blackman to Derby

by WoodleyRoyal » 07 Dec 2015 13:16

Inevitable rumours were going to surface with blackman now in the final 6 months of his contract (well nearly) however i cant see him wanting to make a decision now. I would say his stock is still quite high and could probably hold out for a prem club to come in for him

CONFIMRED - Blackman to Derby

With Blackman's contract coming to an end this season and January transfer window just round the corner what outcome would you like to see?

I'd say keep him and risk losing him for free. Get him and the team playing and well and the goals will come again, plus I'd have serious doubts about our ability to adequately replace him.

1 goal in 12, and his old attitude has returned. I'd cash in asap. I still don;t know what his best position is, but it isn't as a winger and it isn't as a centre forward. No 10 free floating forward perhaps? if so, get rid of Vydra and Piazon and keep him?

Sadly I don't think the owners could resist £5m plus

That would be like getting 4m for Sean Morrison. Good business.

£5M????

Around 10 good weeks in the whole 3 years he has been here.

Up until the start of this season there was always a general groan when he got subbed on.

In all honesty, I haven't got a clue.....got to be Brians' call

As brilliant as he was in the first quarter of the season, his work rate and efforts have counted for virtually nothing in the second....as has our results. As already noted here, get him scoring again then it should obviously be a keep....if what he can offer doesn't fit into Brians agenda then an adequate replacement will need to be sought.
Whatever he is and has been...he is still a worthy starter in each game

Blackman, like Kebe, has had his purple patch.

Blackman, like Kebe, will be probably end up unemployed as soon as his purple patch has come to an end.

Some textbook Reading fan logic on this subject

"Blackman is shit, let's sell him to someone for loads of money"

He hasn't really got a role that fits at this club, so if someone offered $1.5 million + i would see this as great business. And to be honest we don't really need to replace him, we have a more than capable squad even in his absence, once our loanee's are back.

It's simple really. If we're going to play 4-3-3, no, give him a new contract and hold on to him for all we're worth. If we're going to play 4-4-2, accept any offer.

How many goals are you having his replacement score, help create & help defend in this hypothetical question?

This is a pretty fair statement.

I'm not sure it's in the club's hands really, I get the feeling he wants to leave. From what I have gathered of club statements and observations on the pitch, it seems to me that he has lost interest in Reading and wants to move on.
About the contract situation, the club said that "he holds all the cards with regards to a possible new contract". Now that to me sounds like he is reluctant to sign a new deal so he can go somewhere else.
Then Clarke was sacked and he said on Twitter that he was "gutted" that he left, obviously he had been close with him and produced his best football under him.
Then McD says "we need to lose our egos" and Blackman is clearly under that bracket, that is there for all to see.
Then recently in games he hasn't seemed interested, watching an opposition player head a ball a yard away from him instead of challenging, and just waiting for the ball to come to him. The worst of which was on Monday which seemed to me like he was waiting for Jan to come so he could get his move, whether that be to the prem or a top champ club I don't know. I get the feeling he thinks he is better than he really is and thinks he doesn't need the club.

Just my thoughts anyway.
