Financial Fair Play

by Binfield Royal » 08 Aug 2019 07:41

We’ve had a great window with some exiting new signings. We don’t appear to have sold anyone that might have funded it.

Not long ago, the club said they were constrained by FFP from signing anyone.

Does anyone know if this has changed or are we doing a QPR?

Well covered elsewhere, probably worth spending a few seconds reading other threads.

We’ve brought in £6 million or so in transfer income.
We’ e Got a new club sponsor
We’ve got wages off the accounts
Rumours that Dai has ‘bought’ the training ground for a significant amount

The Puscas deal,is obviously a lot of cash but other than that it’s been frees, loans and clever dealing.

I wonder if the spending of this window will become regular. I expect it may flatten. If you look at clubs like Man City and Liverpool, they spent shed loads building their squads but have been limited to 1 or 2 big incoming a year recently.

I'm hopeful that this squad starts to gel nicely and next summer there is not a great need to shell out again, except for bringing back or replacing loanees.

imo, in an ideal world where we are relatively successful, playing nice football, winning games and challenging youd want 1 or 2 1st team players in a year.
the only clubs buying a new team every season are the ones who are oxf*rd up

We’ve spent less in this window than we did 2 summers ago (the problem of accuracy of reporting, whether fees include add ons etc notwithstanding)

We're having one last hit at it. Either we're going up this year on 107 points or the club is going out of business end of the season. The owners were only ever here for the short term, if the club goes into administration why do they care? They just move on to the next club and have another make or break shot with them. Modern football I'm afraid.

Not sure how we have this number for our incomings? Jon Dadi was under 1m, and Liam Kelly was next to nothing.

Asides from substantial fees for Puscas and Joao (however structured), we paid off Meyler, still have McCleary and Gunter our 2 highest earners on the books, and several players out on loan.

Not sure how we can turn that around from a soft embargo, and leaves me with the feeling that something slightly dodgy is going on behind the scenes.

There's no evidence for this. They backed the club after their spending went to shit in 2017. They're investing in Bearwood. You don't spend a load on training facilities if you don't plan to hang around.

Lets not forget they now own the training ground. Plenty of potential for a very profitable housing project in one of the dearest areas of Reading. It's a win win for them - we go up this year and the training ground is in place for the Prem. We fail to go up and go bust, they develop the training ground into profitable housing project or an underground shopping centre.

Sell on fees for Stacey and Hector

There’s no helping you if you want to think it is ‘dodgy’, there’s been lots of discussion on this and if you think we’re inventing stuff to fool the league then that’s your problem. You are suggesting criminal activity, with nothing to back it up and an admitted lack of understanding !

Yes, this is indeed one possible future. Assuming they have actually bought the training ground.

They already owned the training ground, nothing has changed in that respect. All that happened is they moved some of their money into a different account and moved the ground under a different umbrella but all of it is and was owned by the Dais.
They can do what they like, they own everything
They could build an underground shopping centre under the training ground anyway, it’s what Sindlesham is crying out for.

Lot easier to siphon off the training ground when the club goes bust if its owned by an umbrella company.

Stacey was about 1-1.5m, Hector hasn't even happened yet. =/ 6m.

No suggestion of anything, if you're under a soft emabrgo, yet signing players worth quite alot of cash weeks later without any substantial movement, that would suggest either something is going on behind the scenes not being made public (why?), or they are playing dangerous game like Birmingham.

As I said, very dodgy to throw accusations around without any shred of evidence.

The long and short of it is like 90% of clubs outside the PL, we are totally reliant on very rich owners and if they get bored we are likely fcuked unless another very rich person buys us.

I think his evidence is the publicly self-imposed transfer embargo, that has been publicly lifted, given all the new expensive signings, despite no publicly available information that would show the circumstances have changed since the embargo was publicly imposed.

Indeed! I mean another update from Mr. Howe as to the current financial situation at the club might not go amiss. A direct quote from him in May:

"Our challenge right now must be to reduce the size and cost of the first team squad to meet Profit and Sustainability targets"

If they hadn’t done that the league would not have lifted the embargo
Having been under the embargo our subsequent dealings will be under scrutiny.
Accusations of dodgy dealings are unfounded and just seem based on you not noticing income that has been reported or you wanting a daily update from the CEO.
They may not have told you if income because it’s not actually happened yet but transfer have to open now due to the window closing. As long as the projected income comes in before the accounts close then we’re ok under FFP and if that income is as a result of the owners providing funds it’s pretty solid.
There’s nothing wrong with questioning things but there seems nothing to justify your accusations and plenty to suggest we’re in a much better place for this financial year
