MATCHWATCH : Nottingham Forest (a) sponsored by Neil Webb

by Sutekh » 22 Oct 2019 20:04

When : Saturday 26th October 2019, 3pm
Where : City Ground, Nottingham, NG2 5FJ
Capacity : 30,445
Away Stand : One side of the lower tier of the Bridgford Stand
What might I see in the area : Robin Hood

Another day, another horrible away trip against yet another in form side and on top of it all the City ground has been a fairly miserable hunting ground for Reading in recent seasons.

Before their home game with Hull (due to be played on Wednesday) Forest were generally doing quite nicely thank you very much. Sitting 4th in the table, as this is written, their current run is just 2 defeats in the league all season though one of those was last time out (at Wigan) but have won 4 of their last 6 they have also scored in every home game so far this season. So the stuff of which Reading can currently only dream.

Forest expect to have Lewis Grabban back again but have doubts over Michael Dawson, Ryan Yates and Alfa Semedo. Reading will be without Joao and Boye while Meite is touch and go.

Referee

It’s Geoff Eltringham.....

Previously

02 Feb 19 > Reading 0-0 Aston Villa
29 Sep 18 > Brentford 2-2 Reading
03 Feb 18 > Reading 0-2 Millwall
22 Apr 17 > Nottingham Forest 3-2 Reading
17 Mar 17 > Sheffield Wednesday 0-2 Reading
04 Feb 17 > Ipswich Town 2-2 Reading
13 Dec 16 > Leeds United 2-0 Reading
02 Apr 16 > Bolton Wanderers 0-1 Reading
12 Dec 15 > Preston North End 1-0 Reading
07 Apr 15 > Blackpool 1-1 Reading
23 Nov 13 > Blackburn Rovers 0-0 Reading
14 Feb 12 > Derby County 0-1 Reading

Historically

21 seasons shared thus far with the tricky trees. 5 wins to show against Forest’s 12 and only 1 point from the last 5 visits so quite a challenge lies ahead in this one.

How to follow the game

  1. Get a ticket and travel to the game
  2. Listen to Radio 5 Live and/or a myriad of other radio stations for score flashes
  3. Ring/text a mate for updates
  4. Use an iFollow subscription
  5. BBC Radio Berkshire (FM : 104.4, 104.1 or 95.4 depending where you are in the area)

Would go with the same team as tonight but possibly a change at left back, none are really taking the opportunity

After this game we will have played 9 of the top 10 in 13 games (and Cardiff 13th)

I thought Obita was better than Richards tbh over the last 2 games - but chopping and changing can’t help too much

Yeah same team for me. Give Richards another chance

Was Eltringham not ref for Ipswich away last season, Sutekh?

Yes you’re right a late change as the original ref for that game, Darren England, was unavailable.

Still think Miazga will get a retroactive ban, will have to wait and see if he'll be available in that regard.

He was the ref when Mings did Oliveira

He was. That's why I remembered he was ref for the Ipswich game because it was their first meeting since the assault.

I find Obita is constantly a 5/6 out of 10 whereas Richards can vary a lot more, depends what you prefer to be honest

tidus_mi2 Still think Miazga will get a retroactive ban, will have to wait and see if he'll be available in that regard.

I saw the replay, I think it would have been a yellow. No contact with the face; just a hit in the chest to shake off somebody who wouldn't let go of him.

I'd go unchanged if possible, maybe Obita back in for Richards

Don't like chopping and changing.

Fair enough if Obita had a knock or wasn't fit enough yet, but he needs to get and stay fit enough to play regularly if he's going to be first choice.

Can't be having with switching LB every game.

Miazga will get a 3 game ban. Blackett to come in.

Would like to see Obita come back in.

Leave everything else the same.

Sam team where possible. Obita *might* deserve to come in.

Out of interest, what's wrong with Joao and Boye and how long are we expecting them to be out for?

Joao has an schlong strain and Boye's dog died yesterday so he didn't feel able to play.

Sure with Obita they didn`t want to risk Saturday/Tuesday at this stage of his recovery. I`m certain he will be back Saturday and we now have a run of Saturday matches only(until Leeds 26th November) so i can see him back as 1st choice.

Amazing that averaging a post on this site every two hours for the last two years has had no discernible impact on the quality that you deliver, OMA.
