It's a mile as the crow flies so unless you can walk through buildings and don't mind wading through a brook or two it'll be a fair bit more than that plus you'll have several thousand people edging their way out of ground it front of you. Ergo, it ain't gonna be a 15 minute stroll.

Also, it's going to be an additional stop on an existing line, and whilst I'm no expert on the railways 'sticking on a few extra trains' isn't as easy as it might sound.

I can't see it winning over the bus, the F1 loading and getting to the station takes less than 20mins. It would take you 30-40 mins to get to Rdg Station if you walked to the new Green Park station.

Except when we play Newcastle and the bus loading goes to shit or midweek when there's a sell out and the road grid lock.

The bus lanes on the A33 out of town are nearly done now. I reckon the bus journey will be sub-15mins next season. Beer we go!!

There's now a new road going across the top of that "u" shape - joining in to the roundabout,

In which case, 0.82 miles from Kirtons bridge to the stadium bus stops. Or a 15 minute stroll. Eminently usable and convenient for most.

Ooh is there going to be a proper cut through from kirton's farm road to Green Park and A33?

Might be an option for those travelling to/from Basingstoke on the train, but unless it's cheaper than the bus (unlikely), I can't see anyone favoring this if it's one service every 15 minutes or so.

New Reading station Green Park opens in 2020 - final details confirmed (Chronicle)
Seems like the dispute over the disabled bogs has been resolved. See you there in 2020.

For people travelling from the town centre and back - does this provide any real benefit over the bus?

I would doubt it, the bus service is great, if hampered a bit by evening traffic on night games.

Would be quite beneficial for those travelling from Reading West, Mortimer, Bramley or Basingstoke though. Basingstoke does have the bus service but it’s a bit expense, it’s a shit Stagecoach bus and it takes ages.

I doubt it. But, it may help the away supporters who come by train. The cost of a ticket to Green park station, would I expect, be the same as one that ends at Reading Station. Also if they come from the south, after changing at Basingstoke, they can get off at the new station and not have to go to Reading to catch a bus to the ground. Do any trains from the Newbury/Oxf*rd directions go through Reading West Station and on to Basingstoke? If away supporters use the Green Park Station, will it have have an impact of home/away supporters crossing after the match?

I'm hearing rumours of a station pub to be opened, that could sweeten the deal for the bus lot.

It's not a bus being a big one.

Buses are for weirdos.

:| When it costs £2 return from the station, anyone not using the bus when coming from town is a bit of a weirdo.

When did they halve their prices then?
