Worst crowd

This looks like being one of the lowest turnouts in the league for years. it's empty.
Red button is killing midweek attendances

100% agreed. Idiotic this was ever agreed by the EFL with SKY. What’s the likely gate? Is it worse than Sheffield Utd at the fag end of Stam. That was sub 7,000.

Let’s hope what the home clubs get from the deal covers the loss of ticket sales etc.

Won't cover the loss of supporters long term though, once folk get out of the habit of turning out it's hard to get them back.
What's next, Saturday only season tickets ?

I wish we could have the Law about drinking in the Stadium changed. At least you could have a drink whilst watching this rubbish to deaden the pain a bit.

177 from Wigan I believe so that’s 9,911 Reading fans.

Yep, but as for a long, long time, ST holders irrespective of whether they actually attend, are included in the attendance figure. No way there was actually 10K people there last night.

Football clubs HAVE to report the ticket sales for a game. So for every home game, all season ticket holders (whether they turn
up or not) are counted.

So Saturday's gate will be more than the Wigan gate:
The usual ST holders...
Barnsley will bring more than Wigan...
No Sky red button...

Can't see it being a sell out !!!!....but probably close to 12,000 will be reported as the gate.

Little point in having a season ticket or travelling to midweek league games when they are all televised. Cheaper to stay at home.

Still got a bit to go to beat our lowest ever league attendance.

1900 or so in a torrential downpour and a rarity in front of the TV cameras against Preston in 1982, I think?

Exactly, if the red button deal is on next season then for the first time in 20 years I will not be getting a season ticket, whats the point in leaving work early to rush up to the ground with a good probability based on the last few seasons that we will get beaten anyway.

This was a stupid deal for the EFL to sanction.

Nothing to do with our appalling home record on a cold night in February then?

No. I'd use the money saved by not having a season ticket to fund some more Saturday away trips. Enjoy my live footie too much. Nothing like actually being there.

I agree the red button is completely killing attendances for midweek games - there’s plenty of empty stadiums based on the highlights...Hull & Huddersfield are very similar for example.

Personally I think you should have to pay more to watch on the box for a 1 off game than going to the ground. As an exile, the red button is ideal although I don’t have sky...I’ll often buy the game for £10 on iFollow. But can completely understand there’s no incentive for RFC games to attend home games when it’s free on sky...which is just sad really. Sky continue to ruin football

Are we including non-attending season ticket holders in our attendance numbers these days?

I believe the use of the word HAVE is misleading. I would agree that normally clubs included season ticket holders regardless of their attendance however this has not always been the case - I remember a few years ago the club admitted a change in policy for a short period that meant actual people through the gate was used for a few games and as a result our reported attendances at Mad Stad were just about the worst ever.
