Staines has become one disaster of a team over the past 5 years or so....even Johnson Hyppolite couldn’t turn that tide.

Tony Le Mesmer Interesting info here about the restructure of Step 5 and 6 next season.

https://resources.thefa.com/images/ftim ... /89140.pdf

For local football there is a noticeable projected shift west for the Hellenic League. Which essentially means that it will no longer be the local league for football at that level. Clubs like Reading City, Binfield, Windsor, and even possibly Tadley will be competing in the Combined Counties League. At this stage, Flackwell Heath will be in the Spartan League.

Interesting - so the Thames Valley Super League that Windsor were supposed to be moving into isn’t happening?

Round-up of yesterday's NL games:

Saturday 22nd February 2020

NAT

NATN
Chester 2-3 Brackley Town - decent win over PO rivals after dropping points of late
NATS
Bath City 3-2 Dulwich Hamlet
Chelmsford City 1-1 Slough Town
Dartford 2-1 Eastbourne Borough
Havant & Waterlooville 1-2 St Albans City
Hemel Hempstead Town 1-0 Concord Rangers
Hungerford Town 2-0 Braintree Town – 'Crusaders' still 7 pts adrift but beat the side immediately above them
Maidstone United 1-2 Hampton & Richmond Borough
Oxford City 0-3 Tonbridge Angels
Wealdstone 3-1 Dorking Wanderers
Welling United 1-0 Chippenham Town
Weymouth 0-0 Billericay Town

IL1-SC
Bedfont Sports 0-0 Ashford Town (Middx)
Bracknell Town {SEVEN} 7-1 Staines Town – first half hat-trick for Minhas other goals from Herbert, Bayliss (2) and Bowerman
Chalfont St Peter 0-2 Uxbridge
FC Romania 1-1 Chertsey Town
Hanwell Town {SIX} 6-1 Waltham Abbey
Hertford Town 2-0 Chipstead
- Was at this – originally set out for Potton beyond Bedford for an SSM Premier league game but closures on M4 and gridlock at Handy Cross scratched that plan: so we headed somewhere nearer en route arrived about 10’ after KO.
- Fairly dull offerings on the pitch and the food matched (tepid chips and burger - no onions - can it be that difficult to fry a few onions - yet so many don't bother? )
- PO chasing Chipstead were equally underwhelming and the home side, threatened with the drop down in 16th, won with some comfort.

Marlow 2-1 South Park
Northwood 1-2 Ware - leaders goals late in the game turned around a surprise lead for the bottom side.
Westfield 3-1 Harlow Town

SLP-C
Banbury United 2-0 Stourbridge
Rushall Olympic 0-1 Kings Langley - KL quietly cantering up on the PO pack have been on a long decent run of results. Notable success story should they be among the promotion contenders - they were STEP06 only 5 seasons back - would imagine their ground might need some work - believe it is still relatively basic - a short skip along from M25 jn 20 south of Hemel.

SLP-S
Beaconsfield Town 2-1 Poole Town – rare and very welcome win for the 'Rams' – still 8 pts from safety but they do have some games in hand
Chesham United 3-0 Gosport Borough – 'Generals' stay 2nd as leaders Truro romped to a 4-1 win over Harrow.
Farnborough 0-1 Swindon Supermarine
Hayes & Yeading United 2-2 Taunton Town
Walton Casuals 0-3 Hartley Wintney
SL1-C
Barton Rovers 2-0 Didcot Town
Biggleswade 3-1 Wantage Town
Kidlington
0-0 Corby Town
North Leigh 2-1 Aylesbury United
SL1-S
AFC Totton 2-2 Highworth Town
Basingstoke Town
0-1 Paulton Rovers
Larkhall Athletic 3-1 Winchester City defeat here and a win for Melksham at Bristol MF drops City out of the PO spots to 7th
– Ciren put 6 past Willand to overtake them too.

Sholing 0-0 Frome Town

CCLP
Ascot United 2-0 Cobham
Badshot Lea 0-1 Colliers Wood United
Balham 2-3 Abbey Rangers
Banstead Athletic P-P Egham Town
CB Hounslow United 1-0 Raynes Park Vale
Frimley Green 0-2 Camberley Town Cambo pull off a quick fire double over their close rivals but remain 7 places below FG in the table.
Knaphill 4-0 Guildford City
Molesey 0-2 Sheerwater
Redhill 3-4 Spelthorne Sports
CCL1
British Airways 4-1 AFC Hayes
Dorking Wanderers Res 3-6 Walton & Hersham
Eversley & California 2-1 FC Deportivo Galicia – win lifts the 'Boars' off the foot of the table and above Godalming
Jersey Bulls 3-0 Bedfont & Feltham26 from 26 now
Kensington & Ealing Boro P-P Farnham Town
Fleet Spurs 0-0 Sandhurst Town
Tooting Bec 2-1 Godalming Town

HELLP

- as have Burnham in 7th (11-13) and Windsor in 9th (9-11).
- there are actually only two sides who have lost more than 13; bottom placed Holmer G (19) and RWBT(14)

Burnham 0-2 Westfields
Fairford Town 3-0 Reading City - 'City' welcome Flackwell to Scours tomorrow night in a Challenge Cup tie

Huckleberry Hound Martin Kuhl has left Staines Town “by mutual consent” after just 11 league games (W0, D2, L9).

In always thought he would go onto big thing, shame for the bloke

NL Round-up :

Saturday 7th March

FA Vase Q-F
1. Corinthian 4-3 Leighton Town
3. Atherstone Town 1-3 Consett aet FT 1-1 att 950
- got here in plenty of time - easy trip up M40 – M42(N) jn 10 to A5
- parked in away car park. Though segregation was in place - a necessary ‘evil’ after recent issues here – it was poorly stewarded and downright confusing.
- original club finished 3rd in mid-70’s behind Wimbledon and Yeovil, after the year Barnet were relegated down into Southern Div One
- ground has seen better days – looks a bit ramshackle and sprawling and has a very small clubhouse – though temporary mobile outlets were the order of the day and coped OK.
- hosts hasd the better of the first half but faded very badly and the higher ranked northerners ran out comfortable winners in ET.
- still witnessed a bit of overzealous stewarding of a few boisterous away fans but the home supporters were in the main fairly well-marshalled. They are still under a pretty big cloud, based upon recent events – abuse of visiting teams and officials for the previous Vase Tie; which re-surfaced in a subsequent league game, resulting in the management staff departing the club en masse – expressing disgust at the behavior of their own followers.
- the home side and ballboys/girls lined up in ‘Kick It Out’ overshirts and rather pointedly unfurled a large banner right in front of the home stand.

...don't book your executive charabanc just yet -

- Southern League has just suspended all fixtures from tomorrow until the following w/e (21st March) inclusive and the South Mids have also Postponed this Saturdays entire program.

...expecting more lower leagues to follow suit - might have to look for a 'muddied field' somewhere for my Anorak to get an airing tomorrow.....

...anyone up for Long Wittenham v East Hendred in the North Baaaarks Cup

NB I have actually been before  - has a 'secret bar' and an occasional supply of Loose Cannon :?

UPDATE ...and now ALL ISTHMIAN and ALL HELLENIC Called off.

National League decision to continue is looking even more bizarre in light of Isthmian and Hellenic games being off

Assuming that it is still on

Get yerselves to Bulpit Lane tomorrow.
Hungerford (v Bath City) truly need the money....and of course another three points in their perennial quest for National League South survival (7 points out of 9 in their last three games)

...got Bulpit in the sights for Tuesday (H v Concord) unless the National League about turn?

...oh and woke up this mornin' - to discover the NBerks have called all their games off - so no secret ale at L.Wittenham sorry!

...still hoping to find somewhere on in a quiet rural setting nearby but the rain might have further reduced those options too. :|

UPDATE Matches called OFF in the last hour or so in the National league :
Bromley v Chorley
Woking v Daggers
Yeovil v Barnet

...and sadly for RFCM's plans - tweets from the 'Fizzers about 15' ago :

GAME OFF!

After a heavy downpour this morning the pitch has been deemed unplayable by the match official.

Absolute pig headed stupidity for the national league to continue. Let's say a player has it. That's at least 30 people who would have to self isolate.

A good few games in the National League divisions were postponed anyway.

However Maidenhead’s utterly appalling home form continued with a loss to Stockport. Hungerford lost at home to Bath and I think Slough crashed at Weymouth so all in all a shame the league didn’t postpone all its games.
