I must have missed when Tyldesley turned into the great commentator people have been suggesting he is today. He's been ITVs main commentator for 20 odd years so time for a change really. If there's a choice who picks ITV for commentary anyway?

Not sure what the fuss is. It’s not as if ITV are loaded with football games to show. When they do have games on this time next year he might be dead by then.

It's better he goes now than hang on like Brian Moore did to the point where he can't read the numbers on shirts.

Never liked Moore - he always sucked up to the big teams.

ITV football coverage has been dreadful for decades. The only good thing was when Roy Keane eviserates players for their performances.

Peter Drury and Ally McCoist are the elite partnership and should commentate on all games.

Peter Drury? Isn't he the one who gets whipped up into an overexcitable frenzy at the prospect of a throw in?

On the rare occasions I watch live TV, I turn the TV volume down and listen to 5Live.

I enjoyed listening to Conor McNamara and Deon Dublin on Five Live Sport during the World Cup. Worked really well together.

Waddle's pretty good but ever since Italia 90, he's always had a problem with pelanties.

Thank god. He was ridiculous, almost as if someone had told him he has to add excitement to his games so he went OTT screaming at anything

Best commentary teams ever. Barry Davies (TV) and Peter Jones (radio). Always thought Jimmy Armfield was the best pundit by a mile.

Shame there isn’t an option on games these days to turn the commentators and pundits off and just have the game atmosphere with random supporter comments thrown in from the proverbial “bloke behind me” just as if you were at the ground.
