Old Man Andrews Apologies for not accurately predicting the first fixture out of the multiple options there were, shame on me.

Try not to be so literal/autistic.

You just seemed so confident that was going to be the case... "you heard it here first" etc...

Well I actually meant I thought it would be our first home game in February 2021, I was technically right.

Thats odd....

Never been tested so, maybe?

Hard to convey humour over an internet message board though...

With home games against Barnsley,Wycombe and Rotherham in the first 7 games, you would think there will be some pressure on Bowen if we don't have minimum 12 points on the board by then.

Can't see pressure being applied to be honest, not until Christmas anyway. If we are comfortably around midtable after the first 7 supporters and owners will be reasonably happy.

This is also the day the FSA launches its SUSTAIN THE GAME campaign.

STAR is signed up and backing it. The Covid-19 situation has made the crisis in football governance and finance even worse. But this could mean it’s a great time for change.

The campaign is backed by supporters’ groups from almost all 92 clubs, some clubs themselves, politicians from the three major parties and leading football media figures like Jamie Carragher who said “this is a difficult time for the game but it’s also a chance to make real changes.” The campaign looks for urgent action from the authorities to protect the very existence of clubs in this dangerous time.

The five principles of the campaign are:

1. Protect our clubs - football clubs are community assets and an important expression of individual and local identity, they deserve legal protection and urgent support to secure their future;
2. Transparency - everyone has a right to know who owns their club, and how clubs and the authorities operate. Owners are custodians of clubs on behalf of all of us;
3. Financial controls - fans want rules with real teeth which are independently enforced, clubs and leagues can't be left to regulate themselves;
4. Strengthen the pyramid - football as a whole is wealthy, but we need a smarter and fairer use of the money in the game to encourage sustainability;
5. Supporter engagement - fans are the lifeblood of the game, they need a voice in their clubs and on all issues that affect them and their communities.

According to the above seven successive away games from back end of September through October. That cannot be right.

I don't know, there is a vocal group who just don't like the bloke - failure to pick up at least 7 points from those 3 games will see that volume increase as it will likely mean we're down the bottom again - now of course, if we fail to win all 3 put pick up 2 or 3 wins on the road, that will be different.

Would imagine some of those games may change KO time if they remain behind closed doors - no point playing at Blackburn at 7.45 if no-one is there.

Dude there was nobody there for the standard midweek home fixture against Blackburn in normal times......

Luckily any ‘vocal’ group have nowhere meaningful to make their views felt. I doubt anyone at the club is going to sack a manager because a few keyboard warriors throw their toys out of their virtual pram. When the whole, stadium turns on a manager it’s very different but we’re not likely to have that for months

Corrected fixture list is

September
12 - Derby County (a), 3pm
19 - Barnsley (h), 3pm
26 - Cardiff City (a), 3pm

October
3 - Watford (h), 3pm
17 - Middlesbrough (a), 3pm
20 - Wycombe Wanderers (h), 8pm
24 - Rotherham United (h), 3pm
27 - Blackburn Rovers (a), 7.45pm
31 - Coventry City (a), 3pm

November
4 - Preston North End (h), 8pm
7 - Stoke City (h), 3pm
21 - Bournemouth (a), 3pm
25 - Millwall (a), 7.45pm
28 - Bristol City (h), 3pm

December
2 - Sheffield Wednesday (a), 7.45pm
5 - Nottingham Forest (h), 3pm
9 - Birmingham City (h), 8pm
12 - Queen’s Park Rangers (a), 3pm
16 - Norwich City (h), 8pm
19 - Brentford (a), 3pm
26 - Luton Town (h), 3pm
29 - Swansea City (a), 7.45pm

January
2 - Huddersfield Town (a), 3pm
16 - Brentford (h), 3pm
19 - Coventry (h), 8pm
26 - Preston North End (a), 3pm
29 - Bournemouth (h), 3pm

February
6 - Stoke City (a), 3pm
13 - Millwall (h), 3pm
16 - Bristol City (a), 7.45pm
20 - Middlesbrough (h), 3pm
23 - Wycombe Wanderers (h), 8pm
27 - Rotherham United (a), 3pm

March
2 - Blackburn Rovers (h), 8pm
6 - Sheffield Wednesday (h), 3pm
13 - Nottingham Forest (a), 3pm
17 - Birmingham City (a), 7.45pm

April
2 - Barnsley (a), 3pm
5 - Derby County (h), 3pm
10 - Watford (a), 3pm
17 - Cardiff City (h), 3pm
21 - Luton Town (a), 7.45pm
24 - Swansea City (h), 3pm

May
1 - Norwich City (a), 3pm
8 - Huddersfield Town (h), 3pm

As things currently stand fans MAY be allowed back into grounds on 3 October which, for Reading, is a visit from Watford. Believe initially about a third of capacity will be allowed, so around 8000 fans. Presume around 800 will be allowed from away teams which leaves 7200 or so tickets for home fans.

Anyone know roughly how many STs Reading sold for each of the last 3 seasons?

I reckon if you work on 10k STH You wouldn’t befar wrong but suspect it won’t be much of an indicator.
Obviously priority would go to STH from last season and you would hope those who did not request a refund perhaps get priority for the reduced numbers.
Away numbers must depend on what is deemed safe for that area, not sure 800 in that section would be ok would it ? Away fans would be a massive headache for social distancing and I can see games being home fans only for a while.
