Four Of Clubs Saturday 3rd October – weather forecast is grim – so expect a few ‘washouts’

FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round [BEHIND CLOSED DOORS at ELITE Club STEP02 Ground ; * = ELITE Club]

76 Bath City* (6S) v Winchester City (8SS)

Shame we can't go to this, but it would have been an expensive day out in the fine pubs of Bath.
Still, it's being live streamed, and I have a box of Sherfield Village Brewery's stonking 6.3% IPA to work through.

Not sure how the game will go - the expected shite weather should be a leveller, and Bath haven't played a competitive fixture yet, so it may be closer than you would expect.

We lost 3-2, but it was a cracking game by all accounts - we matched Bath right to the end, and they needed their keeper to pull of a worldie save at 90+4 mins that would have taken us level. Gutted, esp as we were 2-1 up for half an hour. Good to see we can handle a team two leagues above us, but I'm worried we'll be tired and mentally bruised before our crucial league game on Tuesday against AFC Totton.

The live stream was shite - I just about saw our goal to go 2-1 up, but it was such a bad stream that they've offered us our money back.

With your tenants right behind you

Ex-tenants - they'll be back in B'stoke this season, I believe. The Hampshire FA ground seems to be nearly ready for them.

.

I was wrong. Basingstoke are playing a home game at Winchester on Tuesday night v. Sholing.

SCFL-1 (Sussex) Oakwood 0-2 Shoreham Town
- fairly basic STEP06 set-up with attempts to put some strict T&T measures in place ... and all credit to the club for their efforts.
Bar only open for access to WCs - Tea Hatch served bottled beer and hot food/drink - had cup a soup in a club mug :D .
Also got a badge - the programme is rumoured to be on line somewhere - so I'm told - probably still pending someone doing it.
- run evidently by a few dedicated volunteers.
- Chappy at gate had difficulty with temp gun and the sign-in app - which was taking longer than 'walk-up' pen & paper bods like ourselves.
Probably why my headcount for attendance was 50+ and the official counted crowd was only 20.
Ground is really tucked away off of jn 10 - in a sub-suburb of Crawley/Three Bridges virtually alongside the A2011.
Traffic really light for a Sat - probably the wet weather put most people off - back home not long after 18:00.

Agree with that, not even the “glamour” of someone at step 2, or someone from an entirely different league set up, just a trip to north London to play about as good as you can currently get in the Isthmian Premier (Haringey are currently equal top with 3 other sides) - still at least fans can go I suppose. Mind you I suspect Bracknell will raise their game being the ones with nothing to lose and they’ve had a bit of penalty practice!

Winchester City still on 100%. Beat Totton 2-1 away tonight in a big derby despite being down to 10 men for half an hour. Half of Totton's team are ex-Winch, which adds to the tension! Cirencester had a big win and go top, and Basingstoke won too, going second by my reckoning. . Winchester are third, behind those two, who have both played one game more than us.
Above based on Twitter, so I may have missed something.

I see on Twitter that Kai Stubbs-Alleyne got the winner for Reading City tonight. Is he related to the Reading Alleyne footballing dynasty, as in Andy Alleyne who used to wear the hoops at Elm Park back in the 70s?

Great result for Basingstoke last night - they deserve this.

Hopefully results keep coming before they move into site at Winklebury. I am expecting them to get very healthy crowds there.

Also shout out to Eastleigh. Brilliant start for them. Ben House (ex Reading) could prove to be a very good signing.

After a good start to the season (with two opening wins) Didcot have derailed somewhat. Beaten in two away games since, they got stuffed three-nil last night at home. Funny old game as the away side (Kidlington) have the majority of possession in the first half and went deservedly into the break one up yet Didders came out of the traps on fire for the second half and could have easily scored three (not sure how they didn't) - with the last of those three chances seeing the ball hit the post and running across the goal line and staying out.
After that, it was game over.

Working in the North West.

Took in Cammell Laird 1-0 Barnton in the North West Counties League Division 1 South. 89th min penalty settling matters in a match played at the tempo of an Old Firm derby.

Situated right by the Mersey near Birkenhead. 2 sides surrounded by heavily padlocked corrugated Iron. 1 side council housing. 1 side Bus Depot. The club shop is a shipping container (closed).

Dodgy Street Parking only. I went back to my car at HT to check it was still there.

You get the general picture.

Bl**dy hell. Did you stay up there, or wheel-spin out the car park and race towards the home counties ?

Great 2-1 win for Bracknell at Chertsey last night in front of 400. Late winner from Dan Bayliss pushes the Robins up to second.

Yeah was a fine win! Could defintiely go up this season which will mean finding a new stadium to play in. Wondering if Slough will be an option until they sort a new ground out a bit more local to Bracknell.
