SouthDownsRoyal
WoodleyRoyal Pauno should learn a lot from today’s performance

100pc

Dreadful game against a team who could play all week and not score yet we struggled to beat them.

Never mind, three points. The table looks too good (early days etc)

But seriously Pauno has to learn from this. If we are going to have a promotion push games like this need to be easy two, three nil jobbies

I think he'll learn more from that than he would from an easy 3-0 win

Don't think we could have played a lot worse if I am honest.

At least we kept another clean sheet. We're so tough to break down and that's a great sign. 5 clean sheets in 6 is fantastic. We won't sustain that.

Fair play to Wycombe for pushing us all the way and making it hard for us, but we really should have won that more comfortably.

Pretty comfortable. Lol at all you melts worrying about holding on.

Played not very well. Stepped it up a gear for 20 minutes, scored, job done.

Wycombe made us work but we were never really in any danger. One good shot for them off about two ricochets and Rafa was a solid match for it.

We're not hugely inspiring right now, but we've got a lot of players who can produce some magic and a really really tough defence to crack.

Thank heavens for that.

Wycombe will, quite rightly, be back in the third tier next season. And even that is above where they should be.

This is our BEST EVER start (after 6 games) at this tier of football in our history. Stop and think and about that.

Hats off RFC...you are doing well.

Still think Laurent+Rinomhota are the most important players in this team

Rino showed glimpses of the player he is but nothing like usual and Laurent appeared largely anonymous. Agree with both sentiments they make this team tick.

Yep said on the BFTG thread that teams no longer run through us down the middle of the pitch. Both Laurent and Rinomhota are very good at protecting the back four. Both are positionally very aware.

Doing the stuff quietly and effectively is all that's required. Stop the opposition from playing.

Not necessarily

Championship is an unpredictable league. 23rd Wigan beat both Leeds and West Brom away last year

Al about grinding out the results. Momentum is a huge thing in this league

Would probably still go with the same team but with Esteves in for Holmes. Might also consider giving Joao a rest, or certainly look to sub him early if the game allows.

yeah Esteves is a must. Clearly a quality player. Like him a lot already

Joao is getting quite isolated. I'd keep the same starting line up for Rotherham except Esteves but we need to get Olise in closer to Joao - or if not that, then yes I think a plan b involving Puscas up top with him is going to happen sooner rather than later.

Puscas must be a bit miffed actually. Been very good every time he has played in the league this year, scored against Watford and didnt even get off the bench last night

Think both of them looked tired. They were not as sharp as they have been. Pauno needs to get options to support them over the season.

Certainly not their best game but they improved. Thought Rino was pretty good overall tbh, and Laurent had a reasonable second half.

All about the shape and balance they give though

Wycombe are unlikely to make it easy for many teams this season. Quite a few of the goals they have conceded have been after the hour mark, when presumably their high energy/pressing approach starks to take its toll on their players and they begin to tire.
