alfie9 We have 7 league games coming up with no more than 3 days rest between them. If we're still in a strong position after November 7 I think we can unequivocally call this a successful managerial appointment.

I've been impressed with him from day one and I hope he succeeds with us. Looking at the next seven fixtures, if we rotate well I think there's a solid opportunity to hold a top 2 place going into the November break. We should be targeting 15 points minimum.

Certainly appears like some winnable games in the next seven (or certainly games we need to win if we are promotion candidates)

I’ve only just looked at the next 7. Wycombe, Rotherham, Coventry we need to be picking up max points. Then a few points from Boro, Blackburn, Preston & Stoke should see us in a strong position prior to the crazy Xmas run of fixtures.

29th November to 29th Dec, nine fixtures! Should prove very interesting

Gonna be injury-country. So the sides with tougher/braver players
or bigger (quality) squads will probably benefit.

If only we had six Centre-backs...

Watford showed the problems, 3 serious injuries and the Reading squad is struggling badly for experience. Semedo and Esteves will certainly provide cover and give management some options but probably could do with a couple more even if it’s just short term until January. Also, if players go out on loan in the next week, the club will need to replace them too.

If only the internationals and League Cup had been cut back on/scrapped, then there could have been some relief given to the domestic leagues.

Overall though I am now whelmed by VP’s appointment.

Bugger me that's a good stat.

Could well win more than Stam this season if we keep this up

He's already halfway with 22 points (from 8 games), to Stam and Clement's combined total of 44 points (from 46) from 2017-18.

Jeez, that is pretty damning on the last few managers.

And unlike previous managers we’re showing signs of improvement, before Rotherham at home we had 8 goals in 6 games then now we have 15 goals in 8. Long may it continue.

The original stat against Clement was taken off twitter and I added Gomes and Bowen win numbers. However that was from wiki and possibly includes cup games. So actually league wins for Gomes and Bowen could be less. But yeah you get the jist.

If someone wants to ratify just the league wins for both Bowen and Clement that would be great as, to be honest, I can’t be arsed.

Edit; just checked it was not hard actually so Bowen was 13 league wins and Gomes was 8

Very late to the party that is this thread. Originally I would've posted underwhelmed but now how can I not be overwhelmed? What a start!
The players seem to be buying into the managers philosophy and tactics and we seem to be a much tighter, hungrier unit. I'm starting to get that feeling a la 1992-93/2005/06!

A whelmguage that is massively weighted to before we won 7/8 seems kinda pointless

Mid point of the season will be a good time to reflect again.

We’re only 3 or 4 games from a quarter way through the season

10 or 11 games is a good point for reflection for that reason.

As far as I am concerned...I would expect his middle name to start with an I :D

Solid bloke. Fantastic start to his career at Reading. Am hoping this is the start of something special. As of right now, nothing
but praise for the guy from me.

Let's be honest, 99.9% of nobbers are absolutely loving this :D

I wouldn't say that- but even I would eat a McDonald's if Pauno thought it would help the team keep this up.

Can't stay under the radar now tho, there is a puff piece about him on the BBC Championship site.
