I thought we started well v Coventry and had three excellent chances. Aluko should have controlled that awful pass across the penalty box, Joao should have scored from the one on one and Semedo had a decent opening but his shot was poor. We looked very comfortable. Then they said scored and we struggled thereafter.

Preston are excellent away from home but absolutely hopeless at home. Very odd. We do have an excellent recent record against them though.

Provided Meite and Ejaria are fit then even without Moore we should be fine. McIntyre will be fine.
So a home win for me.

Snowflake Royal In a way we're lucky our injuries are stacking up in positions we have most cover.

RB, and attacking midfield.

RB: Yiadom (out), Araruna (out), Esteves, Holmes (out), Watson.

That's five players for one position with three out.

AM/FL/R: Meite (outish) Olise, Ejaria (out), Swift (out), Semedo, Aluko, Tetek(?)

That's six / seven players for three positions with three out.

Similarly strong at CB

CB: Morrison, Moore (out), McIntyre, Holmes (out), Gibson

By contrast if we pick up two injuries in defensive midfield, left back or striker and we're oxf*rd.

DM: Rinomhota, Laurent, Semedo, Tetek - there's some fill in potential here but if Rino and / or Laurent go we're in big trouble. We're yet to see Semedo more defensively.

LB: Richards, Gibson, Bristow

Two injuries hee and we're in deep shit.

ST: Joao, Puscas, Baldock, Meite

Joao and Puscas out totally oxf*rd us.

We’ve only got five right backs because of the injuries though and Holmes really only played there as an emergency. Watson would have been sent out in loan but for the injuries and I’m not convinced Esteves would have been brought in. I would expect Watson to be loaned out in January if Yiadom and Araruna are back.

Moore looks like he’s going to be out until after the international break at least so either McIntyre or Gibson will replace him.

At the Preston end of things, Sinclair was an unused sub for them yesterday so he’ll be nice and fresh for Wednesday while Darnell Fisher (right back) went off with what looked cramp after an hour but it may actually be a recurrence of his hamstring injury so he is a doubt for Wednesday. Andrew Hughes (left back) may also have picked up a hamstring problem so is another doubt. The keeper, Declan Rudd, also picked up a knock but is expected to be OK.

What’s happened to Holmes?

Hamstring problem apparently. Not expected back until after the international break.

Hound Think Preston will be more dispirited by their defeat than we will. Hopefully we can get after them a bit at the start

Think we’ll win this. But then I thought that vs Cov as well

Sadly we're not well known for starting strong

Blackburn might argue otherwise

Blackburn might argue otherwise

Wycombe, Watford, Cardiff, Rotherham, Barnsley and Coventry wouldn't though.

Add Derby to that. Think we started decently strong against Coventry, far better than we have in the other mentioned games (Watford withstanding, we played well - just on the backfoot a bit), the problem is for all our decent play we didn't create too much, and then squandered a golden opportunity, and wasted other decent chances.

I actually thought we started with confidence and remarked so during the game, I think there was a bit of complacency tbh, really uncharacteristically poor defending (which I think you also said). That being said, it was one of those where Cov just seemed to get the rub of the green, not to mention Hamer really should have been sent off. We still should not have lost that game but it's really important to bounce back with a positive result. Back to back home wins before the break would be nice!

Thats what I would go with.

TMc in for Moore, Meite in for Aluko. Would also be tempted with Ovie in for Semedo, but not as fussed with that one as the other 2.

Oh yeah good point. I dont think Ovie is great off the bench but Semedos aerial ability is very important to our distribution. Tough choice.

I admit it is a presumption from me. Its just I cant see his particular style of play being very effective when chasing a game.

It will be interesting to see what the team is made of, hopefully we can bounce back or the confidence could take a serious hit.
