Next 6 games?

by CountryRoyal » 13 Dec 2020 23:03

Big and possibly season defining test over xmas and new year, with the injuries we've got and the teams we have to play it is difficult to remain optimistic. As it stands can't see us getting much joy bar moments of individual brilliance from Olise and possibly Ejaria.

Norwich (H): L
Brentford (A): L
Luton (H): W
Swansea (A): L
Huddersfield (A): D
Brentford (H): D

Time for Baldock and ALUKO to step up and keep us going until the new year

Vital we concede as few goals as possible as we aren’t going to score many

I reckon 8 points from those six games

bit concerned, but things rarely turn out as one expects. I like Baldock and Aluko btw.

yeah its a tough run no doubts. Certainly far from ideal time to have Puscas, Joao and Meite injured

Need to be as solid as possible at the back and hope to nick a few I think. Set pieces might well be our best route to goal

If we're still top 6 after it, and have the main men back from injury, I'll be delighted tbh

I'd happily take 5 or 6 points tbh. Keeps us in touch, even if we drop out of the top 6. With players returning and some shrewd strengthening in January, I'd back us to regain the ground.

Key sheets key. As against QPR, a single bit of brilliance from Olise or Ejaria, or a Morrison header from a corner, can win us games if we don't concede. But I can't see us getting 2 or 3 goals to win matches with the players we have missing.

Would be delighted with 2-2-2 - 8 points from those 6 games considering the injury crisis. That would keep us in contention and then hopefully the big players will be back for the run in.

Anything less and there is a real chance we could slip away to mid table.

I wouldn’t be disappointed with this. Maybe sneak a draw at home to Norwich. But 7 points would be fine from these 6 fixtures. Even 6 would be fine, tbh.

We're at the half way stage after the next 5 games and on the basis 73/75 points is usually enough to make the play offs (sometimes low 70's enough) , and we already have 33, 4 to 5 points would keep us on track

I was encouraged by the QPR game with our defensive side considering the injuries had forced us to play near enough the same team that lost 4 on the bounce and conceded far too many, helps that Moore isn't injured this time of course but bar a Holmes mistake that almost resulted in a QPR goal, I can't recall them threatening.

Do that and we'll nick some results during this tough period. Hopefully with some match training we'll be much better set up with Baldock leading the line, we probably didn't have much time to prepare for both Joao and Meite being out.

We seem to play better in general against teams that come and play which leaves us space on the counter. Where we’re not so strong is breaking blocks down. That being said, will go for:

Norwich - W
Brentford - D
Luton - W
Swansea - L (as we pretty much always seem to do)
Huddersfield - D
Brentford - W

I'd be delighted with 5-6 points from the next 6 games tbh, given our current injury list. We'd be in reasonably good shape then for another push in January.

I hope though that in the inevitable losses, we keep the goal count down. Goal difference could be crucial if the table is as tight at the end of the season as it is now.

Norwich - L
Brentford - L
Luton - D
Swansea - L
Huddersfield - W
Brentford - D

Can't really call any individual games in the list, but I think we'll do better than OP thinks.

8 or 9 I think.

I certainly don't think they'll all go to 'form'.

But then we lost 4 in a row last time we had injuries so could be 0 for all we can predict with this side.

TBH these next 6 don't give me the creeps, it's the 4 after that that do - Since they all beat us.

Coventry, Preston, Bournemouth & Stoke.

There aren't any easy games, and these next 6 will be as tough as any in this league. Forest being the exception, obviously.

Hopefully Swift will be back in a couple of weeks. Will make a usefull sub. Let's hope there's a couple of additions to the squad planned for January. As we need back-up / alternative options on the bench. Neither Rino nor Laurent has missed a game yet. Major concern if one of them goes missing. Or Moore does his shoulder again.

if things stay as they are we'd only have Wycombe and Norwich left to play away with any home fans

Think we’ll be lucky to keep being allowed fans in for much longer tbh
