I always thought it was “ there is no future..... in England’s dreaming”. Both work, I suppose.

Just checked on Lyricfind, and the first time it’s “ and” and the second “ in”.

Tbh, misheard lyrics, often from long ago, are a speciality of mine.

Simmops Also we could in theory not even qualify in 1st or 2nd.

If we lose 2 - 0 to Czech and Croatia win by 2 goals we will be in 3rd on GD

How many 3rd places go through? Are we pretty much guaranteed to qualify even if we do finish 3rd?

If we finish 4th with that turnaround the Swiss should qualify in 3rd ahead of us due to scoring significantly more goals... I believe it would put us on the same pts and GD.

WestYorksRoyal My one positive slant on last night is that the result barely matters, and tournament winners often have the odd stinker in the group stage. Portugal were dire in their group in 2016, France unconvincing in 2018. So maybe we shouldn't get carried away.

BUT
- Never seen Kane look as poor as the past 2 games
- No tempo and intensity
- Not enough experience and leadership to help us gain a foothold when up against things.

The last point is the most concerning. No team gets everything their own way at this level, and the best teams find a way of playing their way into the game and turning the tide. We're a young team who don’t seem to have that ability, and I can see the top teams getting on top of us. We are still capable of playing well, but didn't show resilience when things were going against us.

I think Henderson and Maguire should come back in if fit. Henderson would have added intensity and tempo yesterday. We need some vocal leaders on the pitch.

Kane was as poor in the 2016 Euros IMO

Hard to justify changing CBs with 2/2 clean sheets, even if we all hate Mings

Kane' s performances at finals never seem that good to me. Be interesting to see some stats.

He misses things for England he would put away in his sleep for Spurs. He does pass well and draws a foul like no one else but it's goals we could do with

Oh yeh. He did didn't he?

I'm going to try to defend my point nevertheless

2 tap ins 3 penalties and a deflection. QED

What I remember most is a decent chance or 2 spurned against Croatia

Either way he's not the same player for England as he is for Spurs.

Can only beat what's put in front of you and he was still there to stick them in.

Gary Lineker only scored pens and tap ins as well...
