Wasn't Rooney being paid off the books by a third party as well?

Basically Derby have been punished for the accounting irregularities, but now they need to supply restated financials using the correct accounting treatment for 2016, 2017 & 2018.

If following this, they are in breach in FFP rules they will probably get a points deduction as that is the standard punishment for a breach. Not much to appeal against really if the restated financials show this.

However I have also just read this:

2. It ordered the Club submit revised accounts for those years by 18 August 2021 using a policy for the amortisation of player registrations which complies both with the requirements of FRS 102 and with the P&S Rules.

So the EFL forget to say that Derby have to submit these accounts by a date which is more than a week after the start of the new season so what is the point of the interchangable fixture list with Wycombe....they will not be able to retrosectively apply a points deduction to last season....

To be fair, Derby staying up and then getting hit by a 12pt deduction would by hugely LOLworthy.

I think that is their best case scenario

Have to agree, either this relegation threat happens or they get a point deduction this season. Hopefully we're getting our act together or it could be us sooner rather than later.

I think the only reason we're not in a similar situation is we're upfront about how much we're losing I suppose, I can't say we're 100% honest with it, hence the sales of the stadium and training ground as well as that loan fee for Aluko from the owners other club.

But we've never been dishonest with our figures as far as I'm aware and this seems to be the big issue with Derby and Sheffield Wednesday.

I don't think the Aluko deal was that dodgy. He was reportedly on anything between £18,000-30,000 a week and cost something in the region of £3-4m up front. £3m roughly covered what he would have cost us for the year for FFP.

Let's also not forget that he got considerably more game time in China than he would have got here. Its not like he sat on his arse for a year. Had Rehne paid £5m+ for the loan then yes, maybe questions could be asked.

Also, there was nothing wrong with selling the stadium, it was completely within the rules as long as the price was somewhere in the ballpark of the the actual declared value of the asset and you declared the money in the financial year that you received it, not the year where it would be most beneficial for FFP.

I do think we are actually trying to play ball with the EFL and clearly it's a situation that can only be rectified incrementally rather than at the drop of a hat. As long as we keep moving in the right direction, I think we will be escape any serious sanction.

Not a league rival but anyone who thinks things are bad here should look at what's happening 40 miles west down the M4...

And has duly taken Mowatt with him

Boro pretty busy in the market these last few days, bringing in Ikpeazu, Peltier and Ameobi - can see Boro doing well this season

Millwall also brought a couple of players in, Afobe from Stoke, Bodvarsson rumoured to be surplus to requirements there

I am assuming you're referring to the club who signed ex-Royal Pierce Sweeney, only for then to leave a day after? Citing personal reasons... :?

Ikpeazu not good enough to stay in the league last season and the other two are washed up dross who couldn't get into their respective first teams last season. Boro are going nowhere.

Not really a rival thing as they are not really seen as a rival. But I might go and watch a couple of games at Hungerford Town this year they seem to have put a half decent team together (for the league they are in). Does anybody else go and watch any of the other local teams?
