Wonderful from Messi in the last 15mins when Australia has to push for the equaliser and he found a little bit of space.

And he did it with a far inferior Argentina squad around him. Napoli never had players with the quality of Xavi and Iniesta setting him up at club level either.

Although even Maradona thought there was a player greater than him.

Slightly surprising to see Argentina celebrating as if they’d won the final.
There’s a lot more work to do if that performance is anything to go by

Messi has been protected by refs as well. Maradonna had lumps booted out of his at times and had defenders like the "butcher of Bilbao" Andoni Goikoetxea diliberatly out to injure him in Spain. Back then as well Italians were the masters of defending, so to be successful in that league in Italy says a lot also.
Spanish defenders and Italian defenders seem a bit meh nowadays.

I backed a horse today whose rider mistook where the winning post was, stopped riding and got beaten by a short head.

Even when money / points are at stake it’s best to just take the mishaps and missteps of others in your stride otherwise life becomes too stressful.

That said, if Southgate plays Sterling tomorrow instead of Foden that might impact on my mood for an hour or 2!

Did Jonbon's jumping performance not almost make up for it?

As for betting on the Argentina game I just wanted Messi to shoot, having backed him to have 4+ shots on target, rather than keep on setting up others.
Wonderful to watch the little man though in his final World Cup, or is it?

Mine wasn't betting it was sorare

I had 286 points because I had martinez in goal, otamendi defence who had a clean sheet and assist, Enzo Fernandez and alavrez with a goal, and still mbappe as my captain with 25% bonus

Now down to 213 points and 1 smashed mug and Mirror

Re Jonbon - most certainly.

Re Messi - absolutely..... and he could have another WC in him. He doesn’t run a lot at the best of times these days and can continue to adapt his game to compensate.

France should have had to immediately forfeit the match for having a player wearing a necklace.

Poland have had some great chances but as was inevitable France were always likely to take theirs. Lovely finish from Giraud

Thought it was poor defending from the player that let him go but Rio has just shown Glik leaving the line as well <smh>

This is the sort of thing Harry Maguire does at Utd

But I fear it’s too late, Poland had all their chances in the first half. Should have scored two. France well in control now.

Yeah, they look a little toothless and will get caught on the break when they have to go for it as the game progresses

LUX Pleased for France, ( hey, I have a French passport 8) ). Also guaranteed to piss jealous little englanders off. Srsly.

France without Benzema ( ballon d’or) and Pogba ( ok, he’s been poor recently, but on form a world beater).

I forgot, they are without Kanté too.
