I have a sneaky feeling that this thread will gain momentum if/when Harper goes.
Wouldn't be surprised in seeing him as a Reading player in a week's time...

£1,999,999.95 will be Hammond's opening gambit. Bit of room for negotiation.

They already have...Hunt

Since when have the club bothered what the fans think?

Just like the supposed 'Warchest' last January and all the supposed heavy investment in the team that was going to be paid for by the huge season ticket price hikes.
You are living in a fools paradise. Expect nothing more than a few unheard of players from, the lower leagues or from Cork city and the Kitson funds to dissapear without trace unto the Madejski's pock...I mean club coffers

Arguably, 1998. With Tommy Burns' appointment as successor to Terry Bullivant after much clamour from fans.
Arguably, about 2002(?) when John Salako was given a permanent contract after impressing on loan and winning the fans over.
Arguably, 2008, when - if you assume Steve Coppell is an integral part of the "club" - he responded positively to the demonstrations imploring him to stay as team manager when he might otherwise have resigned.

I know we had 2 bids turned down, and they were apparently and I quote "no where near what Crystal Palace want".
I haven't heard we've gone back to them with a new offer.
We're just not prepared to spend that significant amount of money. Nearly £2m on one player at this level. Big John will be in a cold sweat.

QPR bid £850k, so if we did bid, we aren't the only ones bidding low.

Cheap as he has one year remaining on his contract. Check.
Palace link. Check.
Ginger. Check.
Battling midfielder. Check.
Pissing off Warnock. Check.
Safe to say Reading will be involved.

I only know we had 2 bids knocked back. They seem to want nearer £2m for him and our evaluation doesn't come close to that.
I'd love us to sign him, but if he was to leave Palace for a figure in the region of £1m, I think they'd rather hold onto him for one final year.

Coming from the man who claims Watson is a "battling midfielder"
Good player and I hope we're seriously trying to get him, but he's not a real battler is he.

Watson would be a pretty much like for like replacement for Harper.
Thus still the problems of a Harper/Marek midfield would exist.
To be honest, I think Jordan will refuse to sell and just let him leave at the end of the season. When, Jordan may well be long gone from Palace and working on his tan. (He is a pretty pale guy!!)

Reading have not had any bids knocked back because the FACT is they have not made any!
Only QPR and Birmingham have made enquiries about Watson.
