At £⅐m, there's better value out there.

LOL. We might sell someone yet! anyway £1m for a player is hardly breaking the bank even in L1.Snowflake Royal wrote:+1. No surprise Jimmy hasn't learnt a goddamn thingRoyalwaster wrote:A statement of going down the path of financial ruin once again more like ...

Martin Butler? From Despair To Where? wrote:Last season in League 1, 6 clubs exceeded £1m in player purchases.
Wycombe spent £1.5m
Peterborough spent £3m but recouped £7m
Charlton spent £1.2m but recouped £900k
Huddersfield spent £5m but recouped £6m.
The other 2 were Wrexham and Birmingham.
The league as a whole had a nett spend of £16m. Birmingham accounted for £30m of that.
Make of that what you will but I don't think spending £500k on a striker who realistically hasn't played above this level is particularly wise.
He cost more than Jamie Cureton, Dave Kitson, Kevin Doyle and Shane Long put together.South Coast Royal wrote:Martin Butler? From Despair To Where? wrote:Last season in League 1, 6 clubs exceeded £1m in player purchases.

I'm talking about now. That's not the sort of sums we should be spending on a player at this present time unless it's an absolute no brainer.
What kind of striker do we need?Pepe the Horseman wrote:This is resurfacing. Doesn't exactly fit the type of striker we need, but if it's as well as Cole could be decent.
A physical presence who can hold the ball up and cause some problems for defenders. No point having a Le Fondre if we're not getting anywhere near the goal.Royal_jimmy wrote:What kind of striker do we need?Pepe the Horseman wrote:This is resurfacing. In my opinion we need one who knows where the net is, like Le Fondre. Wifi and O'Mahony are link up players.
