Next you'll tell me we got given a goal once when we didn't score.
Has happened twice actually, against Rochdale at Elm Park in about 1975 and then again against Watford at Vicarage Road in 2008

Happened to Gareth Davies in a home game in the late 1990s. Was mistaken identity by the ref but the club didn’t appeal the decision so Gareth served the suspension.

It was Paul Bodin who got sent off for being Gareth Davies. Easy mistake to make, both Welsh, both ginger......
Of course we weren't going to appeal it, Davies was an up and coming young central defender with the suave, sophisticated looks of a proto Sidwell whereas Bodin was an aging ex Swine full back who's legs had gone and looked like a moustachioed rat, his crowning career achievement being missing the penalty that would have taken Wales to their first tournament finals in 40 years.
Call me ITK but what I can categorically state is that neither will be signing before the transfer window shuts.

Yes that’s it, anyone remember which game it was in? As I remember it was at Elm Park and must obviously have been at some point after Davies signed (December 1997) and before Bodin left (summer 1998). As I recall Bodin (now 62) started falling out of favour in 1997/98 and don’t think both Bodin and Davies played in the same game very often (Paul was a full back that could do OK as a centre back while Gareth (now 53) was a centre back).

Yeah "thats why I said that".
Didn't know about Rochdale though!
And as mentioned it was Bodin, because he was useless at best. We were pissing ourselves in the Southbank as all the players knew Bodin was useless so noone complained. So useless we would sing "you got tackled by Bodin" at any player who ever got tackled by him... a chant that got sung therefore a grand total of once. IIRC the mystery sending off was against WoLOLves.

The Rochdale one was a free kick 20 yards or so out...Tommy Youlden's shot hit the stanchion on the outside the goal and bounced back onto the pitch, both the ref and lino signalled goal.

Because we might not be able to under the terms of the loan?
LR may have also said that if he stays chance he’ll get some sort of game time if and when Marriott, Keane or KE get injured
Anyway some Twitter noise about Deji Elewere from Bromley. Brogue - any ideas?
Just seen that about Deji Elewere (CB) on Twitter. Sound like he's a permanent move to a League One club whereas Brogue think this is a loan deal so probably not coming to us.
SIGNED!!!
For Lincoln.

The Bodin / Davies incident was in a game v Wolves. A young Robbie Keane was involved, provoking a reaction from Davies which Bodin took the rap for. We didn’t appeal because we had no other fit centre backs at the time. Bodin was a perfectly competant full back.

Does anyone have any clue as to when Andy Rinomhota is going to be playing in the first team?
Has he eloped with JJ?
Seems a bit odd for a cash strapped club to sign a player, have him play 10 mins and then dissappear...
(Notwithstanding his personal issue - I've got no idea about that - lack of communication isnt ideal)

I heard (can't remember who said it on Twitter) he was in the changing room yesterday and is very close to being involved.
The question does become who drops out of the squad to allow him to come in?

Understand Reading have won the race for Accrington Stanley defender Benn Ward after agreeing £500k fee for the centre-back.
Pete O'Rourke on Twitter

(Not Brogue's loan signing)

He's 22, so we'd have to pay a compensation fee for him in the summer (assuming Accrington would offer him a contract comparable to what he's on now).

The length of contract remaining is also irrelevant if other clubs are actively bidding for him now.

It's fun being linked with actually signing players again. Going from "who?" to "sounds like an amazing signing" in the space of a day.

O'Rourke is usually pretty well clued up and did see the local Wigan press stating that whilst Wigan had had a bid accepted, it was expected that he will sign for us this week. He has the same agent as LR apparently, which has helped sway it in our direction.
He is highly rated, so this could be a very good signing.

Happier with Benn Ward than Ricardo Santos, if I'm honest.
The obvious question is £500,000 up front or a structured deal?

Probably the latter, very few deals are a lump up-front sum these days.
